Terrible.. I don’t like Shumka as a whole. It’s fake Ukrainian food. No flavor, soggy sausage, over buttered perogies, and cabbage rolls very plain. I’d rather make my own. It’s supposed to be the person trying to make their food taste as good as the restaurant. yuck.
Offensive service. The girl who served my wife was nice. The other girl treated me like I was in a prison food line. Not to mention, the menu is extremely confusing. I’m done with having lots of options and choices. Redo the whole thing and have a couple simple combos. So, I’m still looking for a good Ukrainian place in Edmonton. I was not expecting to have that problem.
So good!. I LOVE this place! the cabbage roles,perogies and little crepes are to die for, its not overly greasy either! i reccomend it to everyone! you wont go wrong!
This was probably the worst excuse for Ukrainian food I have ever had. The perogies were bathing in butter (lukewarm), and literally had no flavor whatsoever (I actually used a napkin to wipe the butter off….so gross!). The cabbage rolls were only rice and beef, no flavor there either. They were out of the kelbhassa, so I had fried chicken. Eww. It cost me about $12 for all that and a milk, and the most flavor I got was from the sour cream I used to dip the perogies in. I was really excited because I love Ukrainian food, but this was so incredibly disappointing. I will definitely never go there again.
I personally love this place. Sometimes the food isn’t 100% hot but I find it’s a great alternative to other places! How many food courts have peroges? I eat here 70% of the time when I go to Kingsway.
I really like the food… A little expensive for what you get but definitely worth it atleast once in a while.
As far as mall food courts go this is kind of a weak place. Ordered a dozen cheese perogies to go and at $10 it’s kind of pricey for just perogies. I like perogies but they boil them and I perfer mine boiled then pan fried. They were better than the perogies I had at 100 bar and grill. There’s better options for food court food. Given the price I would not repeat.
