Love this place – from the different flavours of fried chicken to the delicious sides (especially the kale salad)! Fast and very reasonably priced with large servings!
Love the garlic soy and g.p cheese. My go-to for korean fried chicken! I wish they introduced new flavours. Not a lot of room to sit down and eat.
Ordered the 5 pc chicken set which comes with 5 pieces of chicken, 2 sides and a pop. For $11 you can’t get better than that! I had the BBQ chicken and it was perfect, the meat was tender and the sauce was flavourful. The pesto mac and cheese side was alright and the corn fritter was a bit strange. All in all, I can’t wait to return for the chicken. Future tip: take it home to eat. The place is small, busy, and cold.
For someone who does not prefer fried food, I was encouraged by my brother who recently moved to Edmonton to try SFC. Hes been to Korea and highly recommended SFC. I dont as glad he was persistent in making me try!We ordered a bunch of items for take out including 3 types of fried chicken: cheese, teriyaki and curry. My fave including the rest of our party was the cheese. The curry was ok but I am bias because I like sauces and they use dry curry spice. Teriyaki was sweet and not overly sauced like some other wing places. Another fave is the green Mac and cheese: felt light and flavourful. I usually find Mac and cheese pretty heavy but I just kept going back for 2nds and 3rds til it was all gone 🙂 Kimchi: is one of the best according to my brother and I would agree too! Overall, everyone thoroughly enjoyed SFC. I cant say that I have had any better Korean fried chicken anywhere else especially given how picky I am with my fried foods! Definitely a place you must go to whether you live in Edmonton or going there to visit!
First time coming here and I was impressed. The line up was quite long, but it went by really quick. I ordered the OG chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised at the value. A half order consists of approximately 10 pieces, and the pieces were sized well; they werent small like wings. The only downside is that there are very limited places to sit. Approximately 8 stools and a larger sized table. Overall, I will be returning (very soon)!!!
I’m slapping down a rare 5 for Seoul Fried Chicken. maybe its because of the quality, the crispiness, the favor, the juiciness, the price point, or maybe its because I am growing accustom to Utah where I am living for school where the food scene is less impressive, but I think SFC deserves it. Were the prices more in line with what is kind of the norm for one-off, then I would have given a 4, and I feel like those giving SFC a middle-road rating are probably not accounting for the value, I really don’t think there is better at this price, its only marginally more expensive that a Mary browns or KFC but in a league completely of its own, excellent value. The chicken is moist, the breading is substantial and crispy, and whats more is that it retains its crispiness, I got my order to go and by the time I got my saucy wings home, all the way back in Sherwood park, they were actually still perfectly crisp. I would have expected the dressings to have permeated the breading and rendered it only marginally satisfying.I can’t really account for the quality of the sides, because I didn’t really order any but the chicken was delicious and plentiful for the price, I actually had lots of leftover to pair with waffles the day after, which is something I am finding increasingly rare in the food world. As a side note, I should mention that there is little explicitly oriental about the meal, its not as though this really registers as Asian cuisine, aside from there being Asian sauces for the fried chicken and a few Asian sides. so if you are not necessarily an Asian food fan don’t write off SFC, and if you are an Asian fan be aware that there are optional elements that will make the dishes distinctly Oriental. that makes SFC a versatile meal option. My last note is that SFC has very limited seating space and the food is doled out in disposable pizza boxes, this is intended as a takeout place and even if you do want to eat it there you will be hard pressed to find seating as it is usually mobbed in there, its tough to even find standing room that won’t be in the way of things while you wait for your food.
Its simply mediocre at best. This place has amazing rep via word of mouth so I was expecting more. ProsYou get a lot of food considering how much you payCons The flavours were lackingNo sense of ambience The OG chicken is pretty decent. Its definitely better than chain restaurant quality. The home cut fries are pretty bomb on the good days. I always got the Mac n cheese pesto on the side just because of the (rhubarb?) pink topping thing they put in it. The bbq chicken was such a disappointment. The flavour and spice was a complete miss. Like all I could taste was sugar. It was just not there. Also they need to reconsider the packaging. Its super cute but theres no air flow so by the time you get your take out (dont think youre going to be able to eat there peacefully. Not a dig this place is just not meant for eating in because of the limited space) home it is all limp and sad. Anyway have fun yall & dine responsibly!
