Burnt to Order is THE spot to get your creme brulee fix here. They make batches with fresh ingredients and offer a feature flame each week that will make you love creme brulee even more. Their Vietnamese Coffee feature was the best I’ve ever had. The taro flavoured was definitely a surprise as taro is not often used in desserts but definitely helped with balancing the flavours out. With each creme brulee you purchase, you’d get a stamp and you get another stamp for returning the jar. So double the points and half the time it takes to get a free one! hermoderncanvas.com
Had to try this place out because I love creme brle! I was impressed. This little place inside the Crossroads Market is so cute. I really liked the Viet Coffee creme brle. It was nice seeing them burn the sugar topping right in front of you. Even my boyfriend who doesn’t like sweet things said it was really good!
Burnt to Order is a new addition to the bustling vendors at Crossroads Market, and a welcome one at that! With such a focus on creme brulees, you would expect the menu to be somewhat limited, but that is actually far from the truth. Jesse has done an amazing job curating the creme brulee options so that the menu continues to rotate through innovative flavours such as amaretto cherry, blueberry earl grey, strawberry mint, and many others. The consistency of the dessert is fantastic, and each bite melts in your mouth, making it tempting to have another bite. The stamp program they have is interesting as well, where you receive one stamp for buying a creme brulee, and one for bringing the mason jar back so that they can sterilize and reuse them. One piece of feedback though, is that I thought the price point was a bit high for a dessert (almost $8 per jar), but I guess it’s also a good point that most other restaurant desserts sit at about the same range, and that you can keep the jar too if you want. Definitely a new favourite of mine in YYC’s food scene!
I really enjoyed my first experience here. I mentioned that it was my first time at Burnt to Order and they took the time to explain what was in each creme brle so that I could decide for myself, rather than just giving me one option. They burn the sugar right in front of you after you place your order and it smells amazing. I tried the hazel nut praline and it was delicious. Also, the sweetness is not over bearing so this is great treat for people who don’t have a giant sweet tooth. I love the idea behind their stamp card. For each cremebrle you buy you get a stamp. For each jar you return you get a stamp. It’s a great way to encourage you to bring back your jars and come back for another creme brle.
I’ve been going here almost every week since they’ve first started and it’s amazing how much their business has grown. The owner Jesse is such a character it’s no wonder her creme brles are so popular now!! I recommend pre ordering because they’ve been selling out!! So far I’ve tried every flavour on the menu and all of the weekly features have been delicious. The cream base is so rich and so smooth. It’s actually to die for. My favourite brle so far would have to be the weekly featured pumpkin spice. Mind you I hate pumpkin spiced anything, but that creme brle spoke to me. My favourite seasonal base as of right now is probably the brittle truth. Which is also crazy because I don’t really like hazelnut spread/nutella, HOWEVER mixed with the brle it’s amazing! Can’t wait for the next seasonal menu!!
So good! I recommend everyone to try. I ordered the 50 shades which is wild blueberry and earl grey. They torch the sugar in front of you to order, hence burnt to order.. Clever! They even explained if you were to take home, how you would torch the top. We of course ate there and were so amazed! These come in glass jars and the stamp program is great for the environment. The only slightly negative thing is price… But think of it as paying for the jar
