We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on the Deane House patio last Friday, as a group of about 14 of us had lunch after a wedding rehearsal in the area. From beginning to end our experience was terrific, I cannot wait to return again.Having made a reservation in advance, they were all setup when we arrived for lunch, a group of tables had been set up on the patio for us, surrounded by patio umbrellas (that the staff were constantly adjusting to keep the direct sun off us I might add). The setting is beautiful as is, but they were also setup for a wedding on the weekend and all I can say is, wow, what an amazing venue this would be.Staff were super friendly, made great wine and food suggestions, engaged in great conversation & joked with us. At one point, they began inquiring who the bride & groom in our group were, then later surprised them with a glass of sparkling rose as a little gift of congrats! And the food – every single person thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I had the Halibut Cakes, which I could have had about 12 of and actually had to consciously pace myself so as not to inhale my plate. The hubs had the burger, which he needed about 12 napkins for – in the best kind of way. The chicken and the pork belly sandwich were also popular choices. Wine & cocktail selection was perfect as well, we certainly took some staff suggestions and did not regret that choice. The drinks, the meal, the garden in full bloom, the general ambience of a cool character venue like this, couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will certainly be back for a summer evening meal before the weather turns!

My sister-in-law and her girlfriend got married at the Deane House today and they were the most gracious hosts. Our main server (I regret I did not get his name. It was an overwhelming occasion.) was amazing. He was very attentive, friendly and warm. The other helpers were great as well. The food was superb! I want to have a gallon of the saskatoon berry jelly. Everything was so delicious. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience! Everybody raved about the food, the service, the ambience. We are very happy and will be back and highly recommend you to everyone we know!

We came here to experience the Gourmet offering as part of the 2019 Food and Drinks Experience. While the food was delightful, service was lost. While it was a 5-course meal, we had to sit through 2 hours for just the first 2 dishes. Unbelievable. Only when we expedited the rest of our meal, did we manage to finally complete our meal in over 3 hours. We were offered a small discount for the inconvenience, but for a lovely restaurant with a great offering, the service makes you hesitate to return….

The garden and patio are wonderful here.We had the tomato salad with caviar. It was one of the best tomato salads I have had, and the it was plenty generous for two people to share, at a reasonable price no less.I had the wild salmon which superb and my partner the wild boar, fantastic.I would say the dessert seamed like an afterthought. The service was friendly enough but incredibly slow. They all seemed so inexperienced.

Lovely place with great food and service. The venue fills up really fast and if you want a spot at the patio you’d have to wake up early. Will come back again.

We finally had a late afternoon lunch at the beautiful historic Deane House. It was one of the best we’ve had yet. It was a lovely day to sit in the nicely covered patio, with just enough sun to make it a delightful outdoors day to remember. Miss L had the wood-charred broccoli with a touch of blue cheese and small roasted potatoes. She loved it. I tasted, and it was delightful. I had the Haida Gwaii Halibut Cakes, with Lyalta Watercress, mustard vinaigrette & sauce gribiche. This was exceptional! Without questions, thiswas the best halibut cakes I have ever tasted. Our dishes came accompanied by the incredible house-made Red Fife Sourdough, that is better than any other sourdough I’ve tasted.Executive Chef Jamie Harling has outdone himself, as has his wonderful kitchen team. And our server was professional, knowledgeable and, yes, really nice too. Jamie can be truly proud of his accomplishment here. With this beautiful historic building comes the responsibility of delivering memorable food and service. And that is exactly what we got at Deane House.Service: 5/5. Presentation: 5/5. Ambience: 5/5. Portion Size: 5/5. Flavors: 5/5. Parking: 5/5. Value: 5/5

We finally made it to Deane House during Big Taste, and it did not disappoint. We were seated in the sunny enclosed patio for their express lunch, and the offerings were delicious-a hearty soup, delicious burger, and a cookie to go. Well worth it, and can’t wait to come back and try their brunch(perhaps on their garden patio outside?) bighairandhighheels.com
