I am so happy I found this place!! The food is as authentic as my South Asian mothers cooking. The service is also fantastic! It seems like a mom and pop type joint where they welcome you with all smiles and make you feel at home. The saag aloo, butter chicken, samosas, tamarind chutney- all top notch. Completely satisfied all my Indian food needs. Thank you:)
The vegetable pakoras are to die for! the chutney sauce is wonderfully sweet and spicy. Meat samosa’s are packed to the brim with tasty meat and peas, the crispy crust makes them perfect for snaking.Butter chickens always my favourite with succulent chicken in a sweet tomato sauce.Chicken tikka Marsala is just as good but with a bold fresh flavour with bell peppers in a great Marsala sauce.The mix vegetables curry with fresh crunchy vegetables and perfectly cooked potatoes in a spicy curry sauce is fantastic.Love Marsala Express been ordering from here for more than 10 years now, best Indian food in all of Calgary. always fresh always delicious.
Much better than Green Chilli and more authentic. They make a mean spicy Vindaloo, delicious samosas and a great Aloo Ghobi. A standard go to for local take out. This is what I would expect for average Indian food.
I have been going to this Indian place since I was a child when my dad would order it. This Indian restaurant has got to have the hottest vindaloo my wife and I have ever tasted and we have eaten at many Indian places around Calgary. The food has always been fresh and the spices are lovely. The family who owns the restaurant have always been polite and I have never had an order placed wrong or the food been bad. Go here for a great and HOT take out experience!
BEST EAST INDIAN IN CALGARY. I don’t normally write these but my husband and I ONLY come here for our East Indian food. They are ALWAYS kind and treat you like family as soon as you sit down! You can tell they put a lot of love into their food. My husband gets the Vindaloo (extra spicy) and I get the Korma. SO GOOD. You would be crazy not to enjoy it! The Naan bread is always fresh, original or the garlic one (my favorite) we never leave any left on the table. If you want quality, flavorful, authentic East Indian food, this is the place to come. When we go next time I will be sure to post a picture!
Yuck. Just like mom used to make… BUT my mom is from rural Manitoba. While the naan was ok, that was about it. The rice was stale, the daal tasted like raw garlic and the butter chicken tasted like frozen seasoned chicken breast in a ketchup based sauce – only mildly representative of tandoori. I agree with another reviewer – the spices were flat and old. Execution seemed lazy. While the owner was nice, the food was not good.We were here once before years ago – and while we weren’t fond of it then it was because of the region the cook came from, but the quality was good… now the quality is really poor. We won’t be returning.
The worst service in Calgary, but…. My very favourite butter chicken. Though that is entirely due to the amazing sauce, and not the quality of chicken, which is mediocre. Their beef vindaloo is decent as well, and their naan bread CAN be awesome. It can also be cold and gross. Very inconsistent on that front. The coconut rice is dry, though the regular rice is alright. The food is overpriced, and the service is TERRIBLE. I MEAN THE WORST AND MEANEST AND MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE EVER. But I keep coming back. For the incredible butter chicken. For pick-up or delivery that is. I would never sit in their gross restaurant and be forced to interact with their staff.
