What a surprise!!! Seriously. Edo has changed since the last time I visited. We ordered the gyoza and a variety of sushi. We were hoping for something a bit healthier and fresher than the typically gasoline alley fast food fare. We were pleasantly surprised. The sushi is really good. Now, I know there are better sushi establishments to visit and the variety is certainly limited. But I am basing my review on the availability of fresh good food in gasoline alley and based on my recent experience here this is my new go to.The service was also amazing. The person working at the till was very friendly and all of the people cooking said thank you and have a nice day as we left. Felt like I was back in Japan again for a split second though I was on the side of the highway in Alberta. Such a great experience. Will most definitely be back on the next trip down the QE2.

As a big box conglomerate I wonder how prices can be so high for small proportions. If your craving sushi, just find a decent authentic place on town. May I recommend momos? It’s tiny sushis can suffice, but small vinegary bites leave you hungry for more.

Mmmm. I love this place! the staff is very kind. It has plenty of options, and a variety of sushi to choose from. It is all the way in the North end but worth the drive for me every time.

Bento Box Bonus. Admittedly, I didn’t have high expectations for Edo in Red Deer. I just wanted a quick meal that would please my family and satisfy the sushi craving of the accompanying teen. I warned her that the sushi was not going to be like some of the higher end sushi only places that we frequent. She wanted it anyway. OK, but I’m ordering the Bento Box. I must admit the sushi I tasted wasn’t bad at all. Other than a slight grey tinge to the tuna in the tuna rolls (they tasted and smelled fresh) the remainder of the sushi choices (especially the smoked sake) were decent. Not the high end sushi of course, but not the dried out pre-made stuff either. The other two of us ordered a Bento Box selection. They were a little pricey but excellent. Portions were generous and not all rice and cheap vegetables like one can sometimes encounter. Service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I expect we’ll be back again.

Best Japanese in Red Deer. Edo Japan just opened up a street location in Red Deer on Taylor Drive North. The best Japanese style food in town the Sushi is great and the food is some the best I’ve tried here. they are just north of the Starbucks and A&W beside M&M meat shops. Try the Bento Box good price and you get a lot of food.
