Delicious sushi in Red Deer, I am no expert on the subject, but I seriously enjoyed the food. The rolls were a bit large, but they were nonetheless tasty. Delicious!
Never disappointed, the food is always fresh and excellent. Good value also. There is but one problem and that is they don’t post there closing hours well, I have seen a few people turned away when the kitchen is taking a break @2. They need to post it on their door.
So, I have only tried it for takeout and have never sat in, as my wife and I enjoy sushi, but our kids do not.Momo is the best I have had- and not just in Red Deer.Positive:The food looked very beautiful. Time was spent to make sure that even takeout orders look fresh and fun. The specialty rolls and the tempura were excellent. The dynamite roll was our favourite, besides the tempura- have I mentioned the excellent tempura? It was crispy and light. Even the small things were done right: good wasabi, and the pickled ginger is a good one, I think its a commercial brand, but its a good choice. Everything was fresh and was waiting for me at the appropriate time.Negative:Not a lot of negative feedback, but the cost of sushi would be my one concern. They aren’t alone here and maybe its just a geographic difficulty- Central Alberta is not exactly crawling with tuna, but this is a reasonable if not a fair price. On that note: I didn’t like the thickness of the sashimi. The salmon and tuna were cut too thick. They were perfectly cut, but just too thick for me. Maybe a thinner cut would yield better mouth feel and taste, as well as affect a change in price as you could charge less for thinner sashimi. All in all: very good.Recommendations:TEMPURA! Excellent. The miso wasn’t bad either and their salad dressing has a pleasant sweetness. They have a sushi platter that is very reasonably priced, but my wife and I didn’t care for the BC roll, get a double dynamite roll, or other substitution. Don’t shy from the combo plates as they give you a chance to try a few things, but you wont get change from a $20 back…
This is my go to sushi place. The food is always hot and fresh. Everything that I’ve tried there has been so good. It’s always quick never had to wait too long. The service there is usually good.
Wait staff needs to work on food timing for large groups, because sometimes people will be completely done eating before the rest of the group even begin to get their food. The rolls they make are very delicious, their appies are wonderful and I love the ambiance of the place.
Stopped by red deer for some sushi, parking is convenient. Came here on a weekday around 7, parking was free so it was a plus. The decor is very Japanese, quite weird how the room is split into two sides. Ordered different rolls & seafood pancake. The seafood pancake is HUGE.
Absolutely incredible Japanese food. Everything from the maki rolls, sashimi, teriyaki plates, tempuras, yakisoba dishes.. even the miso soup and green salad are some of my favorites! This has been my husband and I’s favorite sushi place for years, even standing up to some of our favorite places to eat sushi while living in Calgary. Compared to them all, shiso, sushi sushi, sushi maru, this place is hands down the best! The service can be a bit slow, (shiso can be far worse) but for the quality of food I’m more then happy to wait.
