You won’t find this hidden gem online (no website), or by social media as the husband and wife team are retired, bought and run this tinny tiny restaurant for the love of food. The store front and seating are super tiny as the back hides an enormous fully equipped commercial kitchen where the wife dishes out delectable flavor packed BBQ skewers that would put Llocal contenders like Tropika to shame. Oddly, they serve Mediterranean fare too, but will have to try the donairs and swaramas next time. Did have a killer taziki sauce as a dressing on my salad so I don’t doubt they do that side of the menu justice. The taro root spring rolls are a fluffy delicately sweet on the inside and are all made from scratch like the pad thai which is on their secret menu. Yup, you heard me. This place has a secret menu! The complexity of the layered flavors in their spice mixes used to marinate their meats (each meat type of skewer is marinated differently and I’m excited to eventually try them all), and ability to customize your spicy heat levels as well as finishing herbs for some dishes feel like someone’s mom is making custom meals just for you. You may find it word we were raving about the coconut rice, but if you ever attempted to make your own, you know it’s tricky to cook it with that much flavor jammed in. Glad we randomly stopped by for dinner, cuz we have plenty of leftovers and will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu!! eatyourcity.ca
Clean restaurant, friendly staff and excellent food!I visit this place every couple of weeks and have never once been disappointed. The portions are generous and the chicken kebabs are always seasoned and cooked to perfection.Highly recommend this place if you are stopping by Whitemud Crossing
This little family owned restaurant is delicious. The owners are very friendly and unlike a colour cutter franchise they really seem to value your business and ask for customer fees back. Although the place could be considered ‘fast food’ the chef here is a real artisan. Definitely worth coming out of your way for.
Changed! Used to all go so well together. Now the salad, rice and chicken are all different!! Disappointing as it was amazing the first few times we went. Won’t be going back now.19 Jul, 2014Really tasty! Ingredients seemed fresh and everything was cooked very well. Not too salty which is a huge plus. Will definitely be going back.
A Nice Surprise. Been to Harsi Kebab twice now and both times the food and service have been very good. The first time I ordered the beef donair, the female asked if I wanted the regular or large size which the large size was not on their paper menu. I ordered the large size and when male finished heating up the beef and returned it to the female at the front counter it was massive. It was almost like two donairs in one. My choices were humus or tzatziki, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, pickles or banana peppers. When I took it home in about 15 minutes the donair was good and the beef was tender and nicely spiced. The two things that didn’t make this donair two thumbs up was that the pita fell apart as I was eating it and the lettuce that was soaking in water was not totally drained. The pita was soft and that may have been the reason it fell apart or because it had so much filling in it.The second time there I ordered the sandwich combo that included a regular size sandwich, fries and a pop. This time I ordered the chicken donair. The chicken was tasty, tender and nicely spiced. This time the donair did not fall apart even with all the fillings in it. The fries was okay, it did not have any salt which would have made it taste better. Anytime fries come out of the fryer, salt should be used so it sticks to the fries. This place is runned by the same couple and I don’t think they have any other staff. The female is friendly and food has been very good. I will return.
