First time at Saigon Maxim after seeing fairly good reviews. Ordered my usual pork bun with spring rolls. The portion sizes are large. Im a big eater and it took me a bit to finish it. The spring rolls were piping hot when I bit in to it, which was nice. The decor inside was nice. Id definitely go back if I was in the area again.
Yes this place has good food at reasonable prices. The Pho was excellent. I tried No 21 a spicy satay beef noodle soup. Try it youll like it.
I have enjoyed the food whenever I have dined in or received delivery. My favorite dish is the stir fried shrimp, chicken, beef on crispy noodles. It’s very delicious! They are quick on the delivery which is awesome, portions are decent and it’s a little over priced compared to one of my favorite places for Vietnamese. However other than their strange table light up pictures…will return and recommend for comfort food.
We stopped by to-day with friends from Newfoundland for a meal at lunchtime. Well, I just have to tell you, I would rate this restaurant as being the best in Calgary. The meal was truly awesome and more than anyone could eat at a sitting. We all came away feeling well and truly satisfied. Although it was very busy at lunch time, we didn’t have to wait long, it was well worth it and the service was fantastic. Anyone looking for a great meal, I would highly recommend this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to visit again.Rating 10/10 5 stars.Bob
This is the one Vietnamese restaurant my family and I normally go to. We always receive excellent service, and it’s a pretty good price considering the portions are large. I always get #14 – it’s pho that comes with rare beef, beef balls, tripe and tendon. The broth is super tasty! Every friend I’ve recommended this place to has enjoyed it.
I have to admit I tried Saigon Maxim because of their TV commercials, but contrary to Kevin Stobo’s opinion, it’s pretty average. The portions were indeed huge, the beef was better than average, but the meal was really salty (and I’m a salt-oholic!).I don’t go to Vietnamese restaurants expecting fantastic service, but the service here was abysmal from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. For that reason I probably won’t go back.
Really good food, usually really busy at lunch time any day of the week so it’s best to get there early. I love their soup, it is some of the best I’ve had in Calgary. Ordered for delivery once and it didn’t show up in the time frame they gave us and we weren’t there anymore so I’d probably avoid that, but dine in has always been great.
