I had the brisket sandwich, which was incredible. There was the perfect amount of sauce and the meat is very tender. I got the regular size, next time I would prob get the large, I found the regular too small. I also got a side of potato salad, which I found extremely bland to be honest. I would def go back for the sandwiches though.
The owners are great, the meat is fantastic and the portions are good. As a sait student, my friends and I love coming over here for lunch. So glad there is finally a cheap and tasty place that’s walking distance.
Disappointing. Review is the same as Scuffle’s. Had the beef dip. Came on a hamburger bun. Wasn’t warm. The cheese was grated cheddar that all started falling off the moment you picked it up instead of melting and staying together. He either forgot the horseradish or it was so bland I couldn’t taste it. Wife’s pulled pork was a lot better. Fries in the poutine were good but again, the whole dish wasn’t warm enough to melt the curds. Unfortunately, I don’t think this place warrants a second change. Too many other good spots nearby.
I was really looking forward to trying this place after driving past it several times and finally did. First off, it’s clean and bright, the service is good. But the food is also curiously bland and I’m not sure why. I had the Alberta Cheesesteak — I’ve been to Pennsylvania so I have a good idea of what it should taste like. To start, the regular comes on a hamburger bun not a hoagie roll. Lose one point. The horseradish mayo didn’t taste like anything, it was overpowered by the bun. How does horseradish get overpowered by a bun? I want to feel it in my sinuses. Same for the ‘cooled’ (I think they meant cooked) onions. Absolutely no flavour, might as well have left them off. Same for the white cheddar cheese sauce — no kick, no tang, no sharpness,it didn’t taste like anything. Again, couldn’t stand up to the bun. And the meat? Tasted like paper. At least it wasn’t dry, because it was probably boiled or steamed to death. I would have liked to see it roasted medium instead of cooked far beyond well done. In fact, the only thing I could taste were the peppers and there weren’t enough of them. Overall, hugely disappointed. I really had high hopes. If you want good solid brisket sandwiches that actually taste like meat go to Holy Smoke instead. Or get a burger.
