La Viena is by far the best Italian restaurant in town! The food is consistently delicious and they offer great value for your money! Our favourites here are the calamari and the spaghetti and meatballs. I would definitely recommend trying it out! It will soon become one of your favourite restaurants.
Great atmosphere and absolutely amazing pasta dishes! Wonderful service as well. Italian dessert was also delicious and ended a lovely meal. Great experience! We will be back.
Not impressed. NOT a good experience. Had made a reservation for a Friday night. Reservation was not there. While we got a table – we might not have if we were later! Then, 2 of 4 of us were seated and the waiter brought us water and menus and disappeared for 20 minutes. We wanted drinks. We actually wanted several drinks – in a row – we were hoping for good service. We asked a different waiter if we could order and he said no, but he would send our waiter over. Still no sign of him. We managed to order a bottle of Prosecco just as the 3rd of 4 people arrived. Then we didn’t see him again for another 15 minutes. We FINALLY got the bottle after being there 40 minutes. Ordered appetizers. He brought them and refilled our glasses until the bottle was empty. We wanted to order other things but he was gone again. After another LONG delay – our dinner order was taken. We got the food in a reasonable amount of time and it was fine. Not amazing, but not bad. The menu is extensive, but half of the appetizers are listed at the back of the menu – huh? – so we didn’t even see that we could order bruschetta (a favorite) until we were ordering our main. No further drink order taken – he took the bottle away and disappeared. No checking in on our meal, seeing if we needed anything – just gone. GONE for a long time – about 30 – 45 minutes. We wanted to order dessert and coffee. Eventually, plates were cleared and dessert menus brought. Ordered dessert and coffee – all was brought in a reasonable time. I had the Amaretto Cheesecake – which was NOTHING like described in the menu and barely tasted of Amaretto. It was okay but the description is WAY off. We saw the waiter one more time after another long delay. Got one more coffee and dessert plates were cleared (by someone else) – then nothing. NO SERVICE – NO WAITER – NOBODY for 45 minutes. We wanted the bill, we wanted to be done, we actually talked about leaving without paying (not at ALL something we would ever normally consider) – we got up twice to look around the restaurant for someone – no wait staff anywhere. FINALLY got the bill, after another delay got the machine to pay and paid. Good riddance!! Will not be going back, cannot recommend. Quiet atmosphere was great – except the pinging of the VLT machines – wish there had been decent service, excellent food – seems like a great place for a group.
Didnt really knock me out, decent food , service was good, Beer…….always good, anyway it just didnt seem to have any really outstanding points to it, very basic food, not bad but just very bland like, nothing where the flavor grabed you, a reveiwer below remarked it was like store bought stuff, and it was kind of like that for me as well, just didnt really leave much of an immpression.the resturant is nice enough….but just basic
Reviews were really mixed for this restaurant and I can see why. It wasn’t a wow for me but wasn’t terrible either. We ordered the bruschetta, spinach salad, lasagna, and a garlic, mushroom, chicken pasta. I enjoyed the spinach salad, bruschetta was good but nothing extraordinary. The pastas were pretty basic… Especially the chicken one. Tasted like store bought sauce that I could whip up at home. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Price was average, but you could get a better meal for the same price at Nikos in Kensington. Overall, a decent place, but probably won’t be returning.
Food took over an hour after ordered to come. Veal was like leather lasagne was cold in the middle…. Didn’t want to complain as they seemed to be understaffed
Eating in Italy is all about family gatherings, homestyle comfort food. It’s definitely a gem where you will find great food for its value. What is more inviting than sitting at a table with your favorite people, relaxing with some wine and enjoying a freshly cooked italian dish? Many of La Viena’s pasta dishes reflect what you will see in Italy. The use of anchovies, fresh seafood, artichoke, wine, it’s always satisfying.positives: steamy hot food, fresh pastas, quick service, family dining stylenegatives: a bit heavy on the sauces, the bread basket is nothing to brag aboutGreat appetizers: Deep fried gnocchi in a rose/tomato sauce (this dish is large enough to be a meal in itself), Calamari – light batter, large fresh pieces.
