EDIT – as of April 15th they are officially closed, as per their Facebook page.I was a little surprised to read all the negative reviews for this spot – I had a pretty good experience when I was here for dinner recently. The margherita pizza ($16) was delicious – probably the best I’ve had in a pub in the city. The fish tacos ($3/each on Wednesdays) were also great. I loved that we were given a mini bucket of popcorn to start!
My boyfriend and I went for Valentines Day yesterday and asked the girl how long it would be for take out because we wanted to get home quickly. She said it would be 25 min to get our food, which is relatively long considering the restaurant had several empty tables that we could see. We asked if it would be quicker to sit down and she told us it would be the same amount of time. This doesnt make much sense because typically takeout orders are bumped ahead of seated customers to get the food out, and as someone who has worked in the industry for over 3 years I am well aware of this. We decided to do take out and grab drinks at the bar in the lounge where we were told we could order from one employee (who was working both the lounge and bar by himself). When we sat down we werent acknowledged and waited several minutes before I had to ASK him if we were able to order food/drinks and if we could see a menu. We never got one and approximately 20 minutes later we grabbed him again and asked if we could order after having to look up the menu on our phones. There were two tables that walked in just after us who were barely acknowledged as well and none of us received so much as waters for another 20. While we sat at the bar, three other tables walked up to him and had to ask for their food/drinks/bills/to pay. By the 45 min mark we hadnt been spoken to again and I finally asked him if our food would be ready soon. He told us that the pizzas had just gone into the oven and it would be 4-5min, had he not said that we wouldve just walked out at that point. After another 15 he came out with just our appetizers and no pizza, saying they were almost ready. We ate our appetizers because we were starving – we had been waiting over an hour by now. After another 15, one of the couples that walked in right after us got up from their table and left they looking visibly upset with no food and no drinks other than water on the table. I then stood up and walked over to stand near the kitchen and the hostess stopped and asked if we needed something. We told her wed waited for over an hour and still didnt have our take out. She went to the kitchen, came back and said they were sitting there waiting to be boxed up, a good sign. She walked away and we stood there for another 5-10 before the manager stopped and asked if we needed something. I was very curt in telling her wed been lied to about wait times for food and that we were still waiting well over an hour later for our pizza and bill. She went to the kitchen to check and told us that our food had actually JUST gone in the oven and would be ready to go in another 10. I told her that was unacceptable and she just took our payment, briefly apologized and went off to do something else. 10 minutes later our pizzas came out, an hour and a half after we arrived without any acknowledgement of the wait or any discount for compensation of our time. The restaurant was not even half full as we walked out and we told two groups waiting at the front about our experience, at which they proceeded to follow us out. I have NEVER been more dissatisfied with a restaurant/employees/managerial staff ever. I can appreciate that Valentines Day is busy, but dont seat that many tables if you are not adequately staffed to serve them. And do not LIE about wait times for food!! Completely unacceptable and disgraceful. I will NEVER be going back and I will be sure let everyone know about my poor experience. Just shameful.
