Smashburger exists in the strange niche between fast food and restaurant. The service was a lot more extensive than you would expect with fast food (the food is brought to your table, for instance). I like how you can completely customize your burger; I decided to get a grilled chicken burger with fries, and my friend ordered the Classic Smash burger with a side of haystack onions. Our food arrived relatively quickly (albeit a lot slower than you typically expect with fast food). I have to say I was impressed with how fresh everything seemed, and both the chicken breast and burger were juicy and nicely grilled; unfortunately, the entire meal was incredibly salty. The fries were pretty good: crispy, but again overwhelmingly salty. My favourite of the two sides was definitely the haystack onions, but a lot of the onion rings were a bit soggy and little too greasy for my liking. However, they came with a nice smoky chipotle dipping sauce. I probably wouldn’t make the trip, but if they dialled back the salt I might consider dropping by again if I was in the neighbourhood.

This place exceeded expectations! Reasonable prices for great food! Everything was delicious including the smashfries and cookie crumble milkshake! Quick and nice service made for a great lunch experience! The only negative is that it was busy at lunchtime and our table was dirty, but it was quickly resolved by the nice and attentive staff.
