AWESOME, HIDDEN GEM IN THE HIDDEN VALLEY NW CALGARY!I can finally relate to an authentic Indian food made here. These gentlemen know their food & spices. Indian food is vast with different regions & they master it very well. Great prices too! They are now expanding soon with a restaurant on the bow trail. I will be there to check it out! Love it!
Short and simple: I absolutely love the food here!! I always get the butter chicken, it is honestly the best in the city! And whenever I try something new it’s always a treat. The shahi paneer that I ordered during my last visit was delicious. And ever since they gave me a sample of their mango lassi, my dinner isn’t complete without it. I’m super sensitive to spice, as opposed to my boyfriend who could eat fire and not work up a sweat, so when we order we usually get the two extremes and the lovely staff are always great at helping us decide on what to get. All in all great food and service!
Great little gem. Food is always excellent. Greeted me with mango yogurt drink that was so delicious I couldn’t help but asked for more. So he gave me two full cups, one in a takeout container!
This is where Curry ‘n Hurry used to be and I was surprised to pull up to new signage. It seems the old owners have retired and the location and phone number have been taken over by two younger chefs. They were quite professional looking, both dressed in embroidered chef jackets and were friendly when I went to pick up our order. First of all, the packaging is much more elaborate than before and we were thankful because it prevented any grease from leaking through the bag. We found the dishes to be pretty good. Chicken tikka was more saucy than we are used to but the chicken was tender and juicy and went well with the cucumber and lettuce on the side. Palak paneer had good texture and was not just a spinach pure as some places do. Aloo Gobi had the right amount of spice. The only complaint was the lamb vindaloo – it had a thick layer of oil sitting on the top when we opened the container which wasn’t the most inviting. The flavours were good however it was less spicy than we expected. Overall we enjoyed our meal and since they offer a much wider range of dishes than the previous establishment, we’re looking forward to trying more of them out. mrandmrsgillies.com
