Decent Sushi, large menu typical suburban fare. Cheaper than a lot of places but certainly not the worst. If you like rolls this place is good. If youre looking for the best sashimi there is better out there.
This place is a hit or miss, some sashimi taste okay where others taste too fishy and has weird odor.. proof that this restaurant serves bad quality fish. Its disappointing because I know a few friends who have gotten really sick from eating spoiled fish and I would hate it if it happened to me. Also our server was not friendly at all, so when we paid we only left 10% tip(that was being generous) and she basically looked at the receipt and slammed our copy on the table and walked away… very rude.Maybe you need to check your attitude before expecting more tip you are lucky we even let you keep that 10% after doing that!
Very good sushi, tepenyaki and soup. But it is the service that is really fantastic. I was there with 3 very hungry and tired children and good was on the table almost as soon as we ordered it. Or server was incredibly attentive, she was right there whenever we needed her. Kids loved the Love Boat serving platter. Honestly, could be the best service I’ve had in Calgary.
Good sushi, fresh fish and they offer friendly efficient service. The new decor also creates a very nice ambiance. I’ve never had a bad meal here.
This is me and my daughter’s favorite lunch spot 🙂 she enjoys the teriyaki chicken and we usually share an appy to start. Their bento boxes are delicious and also a good deal. Service is not bad.
I’ve been here a dozen times. It’s definitely the better one out of the two. Cleaner/Newer. the food decent. Not Spectacular, but it always hit the spot for some plain good ol sushi.
I find the quality varies. Before the many renovations they did, this was just a tired, mediocre sushi joint. However, I found years later that it had really picked up quality, presentation and the staff are very happy and attentive. The prices are reasonable in comparison to some of the better sushi restaurants in Calgary. It’s not somewhere I’d go for an event though I found the quality improved from the past. I used to call it the ‘Boston Pizza’ of sushi. Although, I would certainly choose here over Kinjo anytime.I usually choose dine-in but lately have begun to grab-n-go. The servers are wonderful and very sweet. I got a love boat platter take-out on one occasion. All the cooks and servers greeted me with such joy and the platter was beautiful and great quality. It was beautifully prepared and tasted super fresh. I’ve also had some BAD experiences too, on another take-out evening. They had run out of hamachi (my favorite), so I opted for scallop instead. It tasted horrid. The smell was overpowering, I shouldn’t had eaten it at all. I can’t confirm if it were just bad or had been sitting out all day. The salmon also was cut terribly and I found a few lingering bones in it. Tuna was mediocre, and after that I wasn’t particularity interested in the roll I had ordered in fear it weren’t fresh either. 🙁 I find it is significantly inconsistent quality (food-wise). The cut of the salmon and tuna vary, I’m assuming due to different chefs. My last 2 experiences have been lacking, so I may try once more, hoping for the quality I once experienced. Fingers crossed.
