Simply excellent Japanese. Teriyaki chicken and shrimps are great. We tasted both with rice and noodles, equally great. Gyoza dumplings were crispy and yummy. The california rolls were fresh and tasty. They served authentic wasabi unlike most places. The place is well lit and clean. The staff is helpful with the choice of food and extremely courteous.
Address is 19489 Seton Crescent SE #404, Calgary, AB T3M 0E9. It is located in the Save-On Foods mall near the South Calgary Hospital. This was my first trip to Edo. Overall the experience was a good one. The place is clean and bright, and contrary to the restaurant description, it has seating if you wish to dine in (as we did). This is a walk up to the counter and order restaurant. Our server was pleasant and efficient at taking our orders and everything came out as expected. Your number gets called and you pick up your food yourself. They put as many ‘ladles’ of soy sauce as you like on the entrees, and we received plenty of sweet & sour sauce upon request. All three of us had stirfries with differing selections of protein and selected some springrolls for a side. The springrolls were pretty good, as were the stirfries. The plates all ran in the $10 to $11 dollar range. The base is white rice, a bit sticky/clumpy to call it perfect with a reasonable amount of vegetables and beef/chicken/shrimp layered on top. The tastes were pleasing. Not overly salty, as is the case in some other restaurants. A pleasant place for a casual lunch or dinner.
As expected, a consistent Edo experience. I feel the Bento box is too expensive for what you get but its a nice quick meal when you need one.
Terrible food value – three little half bits of broccoli, with cabbage and some carrot slivers. Getting worse every time we eat at Edo!
