Went to a Pho Pasteur in Edmonton a few years ago and was not impressed, but this one is close to where we live, so we tried it a few days ago. My Pho Bo Sate was as good as I’ve eaten and I’ve had more than 500 bowls over the past 25 years, at maybe 40 different Vietnamese restaurants. My wife’s WonTon soup was also excellent. We’ll try some chicken vegetable dishes as well, but I don’t think they have curries. But soup is our go-to comfort food, so this place works for us.
I come here a lot for my lunches. There are other pho places in the area but when it comes to the pho broth this one is much more flavorful (beefy / cooked a while) than others. Other Viet restaurants in the area are either too watery or sugary for my taste. I usually order the pho special which comes in 3 different sizes (S/L/XL). The portions are good so I tend to order the small with a side of appetizers. The bad part is I always keep ordering the spring rolls here when they’re not that great (little meat, mostly filler) – shame on me…Prices here are a bit more expensive approximately $9 – $10 a bowl and higher priced appetizers but I’m not shocked as it is in Quarry Park. Service here is good as well as they’ll always check up on you.
If I could give a negative score — I would. Don’t try this place. Don’t even look at this place. My whole office just ordered food from here and we are all not feeling good. I ordered the chicken, and it didn’t even look like chicken. I ended up eating the noodles and threw out everything else. Not to mention, its expensive. It was not worth it. We have a general consensus that we are never ordering from this place again.
The food was really good and the service was also pleasant but the one thing that really grossed me out was walking into the restaurant and the first thing I see is my waitress having a wet sneeze in her hand. The type of sneeze that you know left a lot of mouth all over her hand. And then she didn’t even bother wiping her hands washing her hands or cleaning her hands and instead preceded over to the hot tea where she grab that cup and poured a pot of tea for us. We didn’t touch our drinks and we didn’t touch our water because we were scared that she was the one that served it to us.
We were in the area and my husband mention that he could really go for some Vietnamese food, and then looked over and found this little restaurant. We were all pleasantly surprised. We will be back. My husband got the satay beef soup, I got vermicelli with meat and spring rolls. And we all shared the most delicious avocado shake. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.
I went to visit a friend in the area and we went to this restaurant. We shared the onion cake and I had the satay beef noodle. Calgary has a lot of good Vietnamese restaurants and this one is on par. The beef is tender and the soup tastes good. The best part, however, is the tea that has a very unique and refreshing flavour. Service was fast even the place was packed.
