Booked with Open table for Valentines Dinner. Asked for a table that was not drafty, booth or whatever. They stuck as at the two-up table in the middle of the restaurant. Seriously? Anyone read the request?Dinner was average – Fish n Chips was OK, the gravy they offered tasted like Creme of Mushroom soup – Worst ever. Ignored that …Wife had Spaghetti – again – average, but not great.Their Special Dessert – Banana Split. SERIOUSLY the worst ever. The banana had to be cut with a steak knife. That is not how you do a candied banana – shoe leather at least looks and probably tastes like shoe leather. I digress …Waitress tied her best, but I do mention that she told us up front she tried all the specials and they were excellent. Until of course the Banana split arrived for Dessert, she had not seen that one she tells me now. If she had, I’m sure she would not have so heartily recommended it. NOT up to PAR at the PARK. Not sure what their issues are, but they need to kick it up a notch before I’ll ever go back there. Waste of time and money …
Checked out this place after taking the dog to south land/carburn park. Has a very nice interior and layout. The server was friendly and knew the specials. Husband ordered the Cajun chicken club and I ordered the daily special which was a corned beef panini. The side mac and cheese was very good, husband liked his sandwich and the corned beef panini was great. Could taste all the ingredients from the garlic aioli to the onions to the mushrooms and the corned beef. We were both too full for dessert so didn’t have any but imagine it would be good. Will definitely be back to check out brunch.
We went on a Wednesday night which is half price bottle night. They were out of half the red wine in the menu!!! Then we order the special which is oysters and they’re out of them. So we decide to order other food which was decent and waitress asks us if we’d like dessert and we order the Banana cream pie and they’re out of that. Extremely disappointed. Why have specials when you’re going to be short of stock??? Service was good I would not take that away from our waitress but feel the reserve of food and wine with specials should be considered.
I’ve driven by this place quite a few times and never gave it a chance so just today I decided to pop in with a friend and try them out for a late lunch or early dinner.I had ordered the I he tuna tacos with a side of Caesar salad and had a Belgian Moon pint of beer. My friend had the Surf & Turf burger with sweet potato yam fries.I didn’t try the burger but I did have some of his fries and they were fried to perfection being definitely sweet and perfectly crisp. The tuna tacos were equally as good as they were hiding a little bit of Ginger crunch in the middle and was not overly sauced. The Caesar salad was also good but you can’t really mess up chopped lettuce unless you over unless you over sauce it which they did not. Even the croutons tasted light and fluffy yet crispy as you can tell they were made in house and not from a big or store box. Washing it down with that Belgian pint of beer was quite nice.Adding to the experience was a really nice interior and great service. They had a fake tree in the bar. The tree itself with a really nice prop peace that made me think of a Rainforest Cafe except more mature and sophisticated.Definitely going back to try more great items on the menu. Would recommend this place to anyone who likes a nice clean modern dining space.
Came here the Sunday of the long weekend. It’s a really great space. Lovely decor. There are lots of places for big groups. Service was great, really friendly and quick. 5 of us got the Sunday feature, prime rib. It came with garlic mash, steamed broccoli, and Yorkshire pudding. Broccoli was cooked perfectly, garlic mash was very tasty. Prime rib was also very well cooked. Yorkshire pudding was a bit sweeter than I’ve ever had before but I like sweet and savoury so I didn’t mind. Would definitely go to this restaurant again. There were a number of things on the menu I’d be interested in trying.
First time to this restaurant for my birthday. It was super spacious with tons of booth seating which I like. The menu has a variety of different options and prices were reasonable. I got the ahi tuna entree which was sesame crusted with bok choy and rice and came with a tangy, spicy sauce. Very good and a great portion too. My hubby got the Fresno burger and he really enjoyed it. Finished and shared the raspberry chocolate ganache and bottled cheesecake with my family. Totally recommend the cheesecake but it had a lot of whipped cream. Totally had to work off the calories. Definitely would come back again.
Should probably let you know I eat completely plant based. Went here for a friend’s birthday Sunday afternoon, it wasn’t busy at all that day. Saw that there was a few vegetarian options on the menu, so we thought it shouldn’t be too hard to cut out eggs/dairy as well. We asked about making the veggie mushroom burger without eggs or dairy, and if it was possible. The waitress stated she would go ask the kitchen and get back to us. Instead we didn’t see her for a while and then we got the meal in the picture. A mushroom, a slice of tomato, that slop is caramelized onion and arugula without a bun (brioche buns have egg). We asked for toast, but that had eggs, we asked for a wrap, but apparently that also had eggs. The waitress didn’t really communicate well, because had we known this was what we were going to get, we wouldhavecertainly ordered something else or ordered nothing at all. At least we weren’t charged extra for the waffle fries. We’ve been to pubs that have been much more accommodating, and the servers much more friendly and communicative.
