I had the Caribbean breakfast and it was fantastic. Specifically the veggie platter and half roti. The roti was okay only but the platter was great. I can’t say for sure exactly what was included – peppers, peas, beans for sure. Okra, I’m pretty sure. Banana or a plantain. It was all superbly tasty though. I would have given my visit a 5 except for the roti and the wonderfully and humorously bumbling waiter.
We had the buffet and everything was delicious. Great variety. Especially loved the butter chicken and paneer. Staff were pleasant and unobtrusive. Restaurant was quiet, so I hope they are getting enough business. Highly recommend and wish we lived closer so we could have it more often!
I really enjoy going to Sagar, their foods are awesome tasty and friendly services. I often got there with my guests/ friend from out of town . My grand daughters loves the naan and youngest one love pakoras and the sweets lol
This place is so nice. The decor is very unpretentious and they have real flowers at the table. The food is fantastic we ordered the chickpea appy and the sagar paneer and the lamb curry. Very very good. I found the sagar paneer a little on the salty side and I love salt so that was unfortunate but overall very good.
We ordered takeout from Sagar a few days ago for the first time. Unfortunately it will also be the last time. The Vegetable Pakoars were gritty and didn’t taste fresh. The Butter Chicken was runny and the sauce was bland. The Nan was thick and doughy. Dal Makhni was the only half decent dish and it was a substitute because they couldn’t make us Chana Masala for some reason. The portions were small and the price was steep for what we got. Not Recommended. The search for good Indian takeout on the North Side continues … Sigh.
I can’t comment on the indian part of the menu, but the trini/caribbean part of the menu is great. Sagar has the only authentic trini roti I’ve found in Edmonton. They also apparently serve caribbean breakfast on Saturday mornings, but I haven’t had a chance to check it out.
The food is ok. Servers were very nice and the restaurant decor is beautiful but the food is just ok. A little on the salty side but nothing special.
