Sweet. Really love the cupakes and the decor of the store. Nice, chill kind of feel. Cookies and cream cupcake is the best.
Follow-up to my comment about appalling service. I don’t write anonymous reviews. I sent you a hard copy of my review in the mail as well (yes, I was THAT pissed off!). The man who was behind the counter could have been the owner, I don’t know. And yes, the cupcake may have cost $3.75 and not $3.25 (I am fortunately in a position not to need to count my pennies); I could have got that detail wrong. The point I was making was about the IN CASH comment (as if customers might somehow expect freebies). Any customer who can afford $3.75 for a cupcake will probably be able to tell that you’re trying to trying to find a red herring in my review instead of addressing the issue about appalling service in your store. We entertain a lot and I’m looking forward to placing all our orders elsewhere in the future.25 Sep, 2014Appalling Service. I ordered two dozen junior cupcakes for my sons birthday on Thursday, September 25. When I called the store to place the order, I found the person (I suspect it was the middle-aged Caucasian woman behind the counter) who responded extremely rude and impatient. She seemed really annoyed that I couldnt make up my mind immediately about the flavors I wanted and that I asked whether the cupcakes were nut-free. She asked for my credit card (which is obviously completely acceptable) and then proceeded to spend quite a bit of time explaining that I would be charged for the cupcakes if I didnt show up to pick them up. Im not sure I understand why people would place orders, provide credit card numbers and the fail to pick up their orders. I placed my order despite the really poor and rude service I received on the phone. As planned, I showed up to pick up my order at 1 pm only to be told that they had too much going on that day and my order wasnt quite ready yet. I had to wait for about 10 minutes for my order, which I was ok with, but the middle-aged white man behind the counter didnt once offer a word of apology for the delay. Instead he made me pay with my credit card even before the cupcakes were ready! Even if there is a history of people buying dozens of cupcakes and running out of the store before paying (I highly doubt this!) there is no excuse for this behavior. After I had paid for and received my order, I asked to buy one extra strawberry cupcake in a separate box and he said Thatll be $3.25 in cash. Since I dont feel entitled to freebies in any store, Im not sure what the point is of letting me know that I would need to actually pay money for something I had purchased.All in all, I was happy to have been able to take cupcakes to my sons school but APPALLED by the customer service I received at your store. Ive always had a personal principle to give as much business as possible to independent local stores, partly because I believe in the importance of the local circulation of goods and currency. In this case, Ill make an exception. I wont ever shop again at Hey Cupcake. And I will also tell as many of my colleagues and friends as possible about my experience in your store. Ive always had tremendous sympathy for the challenges small businesses facing in staying afloat and competitive with large corporations. After the service I received at Hey Cupcake, I have to say I wont be particularly upset if your business goes under.
Disappointing. All the cupcakes on display look really pretty until you look past the surface. Today I purchased a Lemony Snicket cupcake. The actual cupcake was TINY – just over half the height of the paper liner. The cake was also extremely dense and heavy – more like a the texture of a scone. I know it was supposed to be a pound cake, but pound cake should not be quite that dense. If the cake had been stale I probably could have used it as a rock. The flavour of the cake was ok but not particularly lemony. The only positive thing I can say about the cake portion was that it was not dry like other people have complained in their reviews. The icing was taller than the cake (a feat that wasn’t hard to do), and tasted fine. Not shopping here ever again.
Horrible customer service. They made a dozen full size cupcakes instead of the minis for a birthday. They did stay open late to correct the problem but the heart just isn’t there.
Can’t even believe this place is still open!!! Tried to go multiple times around the first 6 months they first opened and then were ALWAYS out of 3/4 of the cupcakes on their menu. When they first opened, I was excited, hoping that their selection and quality would be as good as ‘Fuss.’ Unfortunately, it’s anything but. This place is a waste of commercial space and should shut their doors for good!
