Stopped in for drinks and bar food to what we thought was the Keg Bar in Sherwood Park. First thing we notice is that the bar side is full of families with there children. So even with a typical bar dark interior the Keg Bar in Sherwood Park is apparently not a real bar. Friendly staff are quick to take our drink and appetizers orders of nachos, calamari, draft beer and spritzers. Drinks come out very quickly as do our appetizers. Drinks delivered by our waitress and apps by another wait staff member. Draft beer is cold but is missing most of its bubbles and spritzer glass is full top to bottom with ice. Nachos are served with guacamole, salsa and sour cream in edible nacho bowls. Nacho plate is dinner plate size, and light on the vegetable toppings. Calamari is disappointing, so much so we ask for a remake. Remake arrives quickly followed by a polite apology from one of the managers who ensures us it would not appear on our bill and two from our waitress. Remake is better looking than original but is a smaller portion and over cooked. I would not order it again. Calamari is served with deep fried red peppers and jalapeos and two different dipping sauces. One chili based and one cream based. We order a second round of drinks which take a very long time to arrive. Waitress apologizes for our wait when she delivers our drinks. Bill arrives with the calamari removed from it and another apology for loosing our candies on the way over. When leaving friendly hostess wish us a great evening and hope to see us again. Dont think we will be returning anytime soon to the keg bar in Sherwood park.
A new addition to Sherwood Park dining, we went here as a family celebration. We had no problem getting a table on a Thursday and the service was very friendly. The decor was dark like most steak houses.My eldest had the bacon wrapped filet mignon with fries and he was very pleased. He loves it rare and it was cooked perfectly. My youngest had the 6 oz Top Sirloin Steak, meek rare, and again he was a happy camper! My husband had the bacon wrapped Chicken Supreme, and he savoured every bite…it know this because he was the last to finish which never happens and he was bragging about how good it was. I had the Chili Lime Lingcod, which was nice and flaky with a nice rub on it but still a little bland. The asiago rice and Caulflower pure were great. I had commented on the cauliflower pure when ordering, about how it caught my eye and our waitress said it was really good but also said she loved the asparagus pure, which she said so many people just don’t even try it. I commented that I’d have to sample my husband’s but instead she gave me my own! I thought that was very thoughtful. And it was indeed, really tasty! We were excited to see mini desserts on the menu, which is a brilliant idea as it’s nice to have a bit of sweetness to end the dinner but we usually don’t order because it’s always so big. Mini desserts…the perfect solution. My husband had the mini brownie, a lovely chocolaty bite. My boys and I each had mini creme brle…it was my youngest’s first time trying this desert and he’s as hooked as his brother and I. My only complaint was that it was obviously pre-made and chilled as it was still quite cold, also my mint looked very wilted and unappetizing and should really have just been left off the plate altogether. All in all, it was a nice meal and as far as steak houses in Sherwood park go, it’s top of our list.
