I have eaten here 3 times now and it’s a little gem in a corner of a small strip mall you’d never know was there if you weren’t told. Even the residents of the area don’t always know this place exists but it is worth hunting down. We go there a lot now because a lot of their tastiest dishes can be done without any wheat in them and we can stuff ourselves silly within the 1hr time limit D has for lunch breaks.D discovered this place some time ago but only recently did I have a chance to try it with him. I’ve gone as often as possible just because it’s so good. My favourite so far is the #33 Beef (or chicken) with Mixed Veg & Vermicelli in Spicy Curry Soup. The flavours remind me of a favourite thai curry that I used to have back in Vancouver, with coconut milk and lemongrass, just nice rich broth so full of flavour you can’t stop eating it. The bits of broccoli holds the broth really well and i always get it with beef which is so tender there it’s amazing. The noodles are easy to manage and it’s just super delicious.I’ve also had the #34 Kha Le’s Special Vermicelli which has really tender pork, the juicy strips of beef I like so much, chicken that was just right, delicious seasoned tiger prawns, and of course my favourite spring rolls. If you’re not sure what to have this one is a good one because it lets you try a little of everything.I like my orders with a side of their gluten free spring rolls made with rice paper (technically they’re actually the traditional version but they serve the westernized/chinese style with the standard wrapper as their regular version and you have to ask for the gluten free ones specifically). Those spring rolls are so good I always get one or two as an add-on if they don’t automatically come with a dish. One of these days I need to try their deep fried bananas and bubble tea but I’ll get around to that maybe on another trip when I don’t stuff myself so much with tasty food that it hurts. The restaurant is always clean when we’re there and it’s run by a husband/wife duo where he runs the shop with a chatty and pleasant demeanour, and she cooks the crazy-good food.If you’re in the Signal Hill area, or live nearby and haven’t tried this place it’s worth stopping by.
Very flavourful broth and isn’t bland like some other Viet restaurants. I’ve been looking for a decent Viet restaurant since I moved to the SW in 2008, so I’m relieved to say we’ve found our spot. Though Pho Kha Le has only been open for a year and a half, I’m glad I found a place that can excite my palate. My husband and I ordered #29 and #33 and yes we got sucked in because there was a picture of the dish on the menu; however, we are pleased to say we didn’t regret our decision. We both love spicy food and these dishes definitely set our taste buds on fire. You don’t have to take my word for it just go try it yourself.
Stopped by and are here yesterday. Pretty good pho for the sw. I just found out they opened for little over a year. The google reviews were pretty high. It’s still not the best in Calgary but why drive to the hood while you can eat decent pho here? This is from someone that’s been to Vietnam 35+ times.
I love this place, it’s in the perfect spot and their food is so good. I eat here about two or three times a month and the owners are very friendly and they try and get to know their customers. I’ve been here quite a few times now and my food has always been delicious.I love getting their beef ball pho or beef vermicelli. Their portion size is really generous and it isn’t too expensive either.I really hope this place stays here for a long, long, time. This is my go – to spot!
I had a great experience at this restaurant. I have heard good things about it and it is in my neighbourhood. I ordered the seafood stir fry with mixed vegetables and rice but asked for only shrimp and was not disappointed. There were 8 or 9 shrimp (way more than expected), the veggies were brightly coloured, fresh and perfectly cooked. The meal was not overly salty and delicious. The service is friendly and prompt, the ambiance is clean and inviting (including the washroom) and very reasonably priced! I highly recommend this restaurant.
What a great place! We are so happy to have found truly delicious Vietnamese food again, as we only occasionally dine out. They really got the flavour and grilling of their pork chops down and the mixed veggie and chicken stir fry was so tasty! Looking forward to trying the pho! The owners are gracious and kind, effortlessly ensuring we were taken care of.Update:We tried the chicken pho and it was amazing! The only thing that would make it tastier is to grill the chicken to boost even more flavour and a more appetizing texture. Overall, Pho Ka Le is the only place I would order pho from in the city!
Meh. This place is in my neighbourhood and I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. I had the won ton soup- the won ton’s were good however, there was only like 2 shrimp and 2 pieces of chicken in it- not many vegetables and a lot of broth. It might do in a pinch but it definitely won’t be my go-to place.
