Walked over for our 6:30 reservation on Friday night; it had been a couple of years since our last spotty visit. Things have really improved. Fabulous service and a terrific 5 course dinner with excellent wine pairings at $100 each. Actually good value given the quality. Presentation and variety marked a delightful and relaxed 3 hour dining experience. Way to go Anew.
Anew Table is located on a very cute street in Altadore. We made reservation for 4 on a weeknight and it was not busy. Apparently the menu changes all the time and you pick from 3 course or 5 course meal. We had the 5 course which overall, the dishes were presented well and flavours were excellent. The only things was that we all agreed the portions were very small and the time in between each dish took a while. The guys said after the 5 course they still needed to go to grab a burger elsewhere. The ladies were at a content level of fullness. The cocktails were tasty and service was pleasant and attentive.
I don’t understand why people rate this on the pricier side. $65.00 for 5 courses…5 quality courses. The restaurant staff is friendly, the restaurant is on the higher end bistro appeal, and the food is the STAR. The portion size is far from just adequate but it also does not leave you feeling that you just ate to a slumber. I will go and I hope others support Chef owned and driven restaurants like this.
Came here with a big group on a Saturday night, we had a reservation so there was no wait to be seated. The restaurant was otherwise full. There is a choice of 3 or 5 course set tasting menu. The food and service was excellent. However, the food does come out very slow. Each plate took a couple minutes to eat and then we would be waiting for another 15-20 minutes before the next dish. With the 5 course menu, we ended up staying for over 2 hours eating/waiting. This place is on the pricier side.
Visited Anew last night for the first time. It was amazing. The food was beautifully presented, wonderfully fresh and the flavour layers were very interesting and yet subtle. We all ordered the 5 course meal and 3 of the 6 of us had the wine pairings (which were terrific). This ingenious kitchen prepared dishes comparable to those of the high end tapas restaurant I loved in Barcelona, and the quality of Togue in Montreal and the freshness of Alice Waters restaurant in California. Keep up the good work!
The concept is great, your choice of 3-course or 5-course, with or without wine pairing.. Done.Don’t let the simplicity fool you as the experience and food is delectable. Being able to create only 5 dishes per evening allows the chef to create them to perfection, each dish is well thought out and assembled with care using a variety of techniques. It’s good.Another benefit: you’re supporting a locally trained chef and if the books on the shelves in the dining room are any indication of what inspires the chef we’ll continue to be in for a fantastic culinary ride!
