Bland burritos. Bought the frozen burritos. First of all, they were very expensive. Both the veggie and beef had absolutely no flavour. The shell was terribly bland. The filling was mostly beans in the veggie. We paid $36 for 4 burritos. I would never recommend it and I will never go back.
Fantastic fish tacos. Stopped in while waiting for my daughter to finish piano lesson next door, and was really impressed. Tiny place, but really good fresh food. Quick service. Authentic flavours. Really impressive food texture. Loved it.
LOVE this place!
Best. Mexican. Ever.
Tres Marias is really more of a short stocked grocery with an abundant freezer full of prepared dishes. I did not buy anything from the freezer as I was far from home and not heading there so I cannot speak to the quality. To me it seemed that the pricing was high and may be worth it for a once in a while treat. Empanadas are not so fantastic that I would spend nearly 5 dollars on each one. So that was a no go for me. The salsas are good but again at a premium price for the amount. Unfortunately Mexican food is not well represented in Calgary, for some reason. At least from a restaurant standpoint but if you want to make your own you can find good ingredients in town to make something resembling authentic Mexican at home. Until someone gets it together and really sets something up, your best bet is to buy some things, get some recipes and just make your own because the Mexican restaurants in Calgary Suuuuuck. Tres Marias is a good place to buy some ingredients though.
This is a small Mexican market with groceries and 2 tables to munch on. The salad was fresh, tomale and beans very tasty and the service friendly. The food is fortunately not overly loaded with fat or sauce – it tastes nice and fresh. Definitely one of the better places with authentic Mexican flavour in a town that desperately needs more places like this.
I bought chicken tamales and they were grate and fresh. The food on general is pricy.
