This used to be my go to place. The food is delicious but tonights experience will not bring me back to this restaurant. I bought a groupon for a $30 gift card. I presented the Groupon. The server went back to the til and reprinted the receipt with a 15% gratuity on it!!!When I asked about why there was a gratuity she said it is policy when using a groupon. I tried to argue that this is not ok because I had crappy service, There were only 3 of us at the table and I did not feel that our server deserved 15% and they are basically charging me extra because I used a groupon. This is such a sneaky thing to do. I used to love this place but I will no longer be going there because of this underhanded crap.

So this is a restaurant that started up in the same spot that another Korean restaurant (Korean Gardens) was open a long while back. Regardless of how the food was back then, I have to say that the food now is pretty good, and they have a pretty extensive menu. Korean restaurants in general seem to be springing up all over the place in Edmonton now, and this is good news because the more competition there is, the more each restaurant will need to step up its game in order to keep up. B Bim Baap has good food at prices are that are not more expensive than much of the competition that they face, especially as they are in the south side of the city where most Korean places are located. I will also say that I have not ever had to wait for a long time any time I’ve gone there, and this is likely because they are located in the the south industrial area between 91 St and Gateway Blvd. They have items that other Korean restaurants don’t such as bibimnaengmyon (spicy cold chewy noodles with vegetables, meat, and hard-boiled egg), so it’s a good place to go if you want to try dishes aside from the staples like bibimbab. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who has a hankering for Korean food or just good food in general for that matter.

wow so I have only a couple of Korean restaurants in the city that I keep going to because of how great they are. Now, I can add B-Bim-Baap to my list. The first time I went here was on a weekday night around 8pm, a little late for dinner, and I saw the place was half filled. This was a good sign in my opinion as this is located in an industrial area and I wouldn’t have expected a lot of people during that time of the night. We had the gamjatang and oh sam bokum. The gamjatang was really good, actually I’ve never had it before but I thought it tasted great. Lots of meat in the pork bones. We got the size small for $16 and it is way bigger than I expected. It’s perfect to share between 2-3 people. They offer it in bigger sizes like medium and large and those are probably best to share with a big group of people. The oh sam bokum is a spicy sizzling dish with squid and pork (from what I remember) and it tasted great. I’ve had buldak bokkum before and this tasted very different. It had more of a barbecue, smokey flavour as well as spicy. Great dish! Absolutely loved it. The second time I went was for lunch and they had a bibimbap lunch special but here’s the catch – you have to add the meat which costs extra haha. We also got the pork tofu stew which came with a bowl of rice. The kimchi pajeon tastes really good here! I usually don’t order that because it never tasted good to me when I got it at other places, but here is really good. They only gave 3 kinds of banchans and I love pickled radish so I asked for it and they were more than willing to give me some lol.Service was average; I noticed that they don’t really smile lol but the owner is so nice and so friendly! Overall, great place for Korean food. It’s definitely worth the drive for me. Their menu is very extensive and when I went, I really wanted to try everything. I will definitely be back.

Recently visited the restaurant, it was a bit lack of deco since my last visit few years ago. The food is a bit pricy in my opinion. The worst experience is the service. Didn’t feel welcoming and the male servers made us felt rushed. We left the place not feeling satisfied and had to get food elsewhere.

I have come here several times in the past for the lunch buffet and always satisfied, that is until today. nov. 25, 2016. I should mention that it has been several months since my last visit.I like to get in before noon (11.40am) and the lunch rush & I always start with some salad items and the soups. The salad items (kim chi, sprouts, etc) were chilled – good! The soups were just warm, no steam rising and it didn’t even warm the bowls – I had tried 3 of the 3. Also, the wonton soup bin only had 4 pieces in it – I took 2 and it was empty both times I went past it afterwards. The main course items were all the same temperature – that is to say ambient room temperature. I mentioned this to one of the waitstaff and they went over and put their hands under the heat lamps. I hate to break it to you guys but the food has to arrive HOT in order for the warming table to keep it at an acceptable serving temperature.I think the food was put out way before the lunch crowd was there.I haven’t been here for several months so when we saw two guys serving the tables rather than the women I wondered if there was new ownership.Anyways without trying to be rude but that lunch had a very short ‘residency’ time in me. I had rumbling stomach and 2 visits to the washroom within an hour of leaving there.

We’ve been enjoying going to this restaurant for a few years. It’s located in an industrial area in the south side, a bit removed from the main roads. It’s a decently sized place with plenty of seating, although decor is a little lacking. Large variety on the menu, although some items are a bit pricey. Food is also pretty good, with my favorites being the dolsot bibimbap and the jjangmyeon. The only downside is the service can be quite slow after they take your initial order. I find it hard to flag staff down for more water, food or for the bill.

The search for authentic Gam Ja Tang in Edmonton is over as we have found it here! Their Gam Ja Tang can definitely rival that of Owl of Minerva’s in Toronto! Great food, great staff! We will keep coming back whenever we need a Korean food fix.
