HOLY FISH AND CHIPS, best fish and chips place I have tried in Edmonton! My girlfriend and I ordered the works (2 pieces of COD, 2 pieces if haddock, onion rings, fires and two sides – we got coleslaw and bread), initially we thought it was pretty pricey. But, upon receiving it the pieces of fish were huge, like full fish huge (ish). I loved it and the service was kind and fast, I highly recommend this place to anyone who is craving fish and chips. Cheers!
Take out order with a 10 minute drive.I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the past 5 years, but this last experience was enough to make me rate the location. The heavy battered fish takes away from the qualify, no taste of fish, just grease, so might as well go for the cheaper option. The fries were cold, mushy and stale. The only thing that saved the meal sadly was the coleslaw. I enjoy the Oliver Square location and hope that Argyll picks up their game before that lack of quality catches up with them.
Newly renovated. Place looks great. Gives me the feeling of having a meal back in the UK. Their deep fried oyster is delicious. Fish are fresh. Highly recommend for a taste of UK.
We come here often because my hubby is a Brit and loves fish and chips. We’ve tried different restaurants buthe agrees these are the best in Edmonton. Fish and chips are greasy no matter where you go, so we share an order. We love the fried oysters too!
Brits Fish & Chips. FOOD rating 5/5CUSTOMER SERVICE rating 5/5PRICE rating 4.5/5DINING ROOM SETTING rating 3/5Brits restaurant setting is welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere and restaurant patrons making for a relaxing environment. We noticed a lot of older folk dining in. Older people know where the good places to eat are. 🙂 The tables/chairs and dining area is nothing to write home about and is in need of some updating. The lady who greeted us at the counter was very nice and friendly. She checked in on us a few times throughout the meal to ensure everything was going well. The fish is thick loin cuts that taste very fresh not frozen. The fish tastes like it was just caught and cooked same day, that kind of taste. Some of the pieces were 3/4 the length of our forearm! The fries are very good. They seem to be cooked in what seems like a unique way being crisp on the ends and fresh potato taste in the middle. Maybe blanched in water prior to cooking? Coleslaw was quite good but could use some extra herb flavor such as dill or something. Onion nuggets were also good but quite greasy. The garlic dipping sauce that came with the nuggets was out of this world. Would love to purchase a bottle of it for home. Lastly, the mushy peas were excellent. Very wholesome. We finished our meal with the deep fried Mars bar which was the best dessert I have ever had. As this was my first I can’t compare to others, however this one would be hard to beat.Overall, the prices are good for what you get which is very good quality fish & chips and food. The only odd thing about Brits is you place your order at the front counter for dine in or take out… which is a little confusing when you first walk in. We will definitely be going back to Brits often25 Apr, 2015We tried the family fish & chips…. Amazing fish & onion rings! Recommend the halibut !
Fish & chips. Very disappointed – I had cod and chips last weekend at Argyle and a few months ago too. Used to be great, always go there when in the city. Will not be going out of my way to eat there again….used to look forward to lunch! Chips are now more like french fries, thin and crispy and the fish was dry. Maybe it’s a new cook – should find someone that knows how to prepare chips – I’m British – maybe Canadians like them that way?
