Here is the raw review so you can be informed and know what is the best choices out there. So we Googled Korean fried chicken to see what was out there. We bumped into Coco Fried Chicken, so decided to give it a try. The restaurant (North side) is very mom and pop style. You can eat there. Now, the order took at least 20 minutes to fulfill even though there was only 1 other small order in front of us. They obliviously do not make in batches to get the chickens ready quickly. We know about Popeyes and have eaten their chicken before, so we had to compare both at the same time. There is no comparison, period. For the same price (8 pieces), Popeye gives you adult pieces of chicken. Coco Fried Chicken gives you probably a young chicken since the same piece is much smaller. See the pictures. That is no excuse if you will serve smaller, less chicken, you must charge less, unless your chicken is out of this world…In terms of crispiness of the skin, Popeyes takes the cake. Each bit, you (and others around you) can hear the crunch. Coco’s batter or frying method does not produce the same sound and therefore does not taste fresh. All in all, when you go in Popeyes, there is usually a line forming, that should tell you something. Will I give Coco Fried Chicken another try..? No.If you want the best chicken, go for Popeyes, until another contender can beat it. I’d also say that in terms of freshness (not greasy feel) and size of serving, Popeyes beats KFC also, just saying.
I came here for lunch a week or 2 ago & glad I did the fried chicken was some of the best I have had. I ordered the 2 piece sweet soy fried chicken with rice $7.95 for lunch special. The chicken was super juicy cooked perfectly with a great crispy coating & the sauce was a perfect mix of sweet & salty.
