My wife and I had been craving Korea, had driven by a few times and decided to try it with the family. They seated us and gave us menus and…… We sat for OVER 20 MINUTES BEING IGNORED!! They didn’t bring or offer drinks or even come to our table once. There was 3 staff up front and 3 occupied table, hard to miss a table of four by accident. After reading the whole menu twice and picking what we wanted we waited and waited and waited. I finally looked at my phone to check the time. We still stayed another 12 minutes before we walked out. Only as we left with daughters crying they are hungry did they acknowledge we existed. We went across the street to Pocha Seoul and had excellent food within a few minutes, if you want good Korean I would suggest you do the same.
Service was friendly and the kitchen very efficient. We were super stuffed after a family dinner at our now fav Korean restaurant. We had the Galbi or BBQ beef ribs, fiery spicy savory and very aromatic pork bone soup, crazy crispy delish seafood pancake, spicy savory rice stick, hearty hot stone bowl of bibimbap, additive bites of kimbab – think korean style pork tempura sushi rolls, crispy Korean fried chicken with a wicked tasty soy based sauce, and tasty japchae noodles. Highly recommend sipping on some homemade SikHye (no pic), a gingerroot and roasted rice sweetened iced tea- incredibly refreshing and tasty!! eatyourcity.ca
I found that the restaurant is under new management since the summer. The servers are very attentive and able to help with addressing one’s different food needs. The food is savory, and is more extensive than previously. There is private booths if you want a little more privacy with your party. Else, you can jive to some korean beats on the TVs around the restaurant. We loved the unlimited dessert drink, it was different (it was a ginger root, rice sweet drink) and very refreshing. Would definitely recommend! =D
Banchan, Seafood Pancake, Crispy Fried Chicken in Spicy Korean Sauce, Bibim NaengmyeonGood ol Korean food, Daore has it. They have banchan here! Free banchan unlike that horrible Hanjan place. Eat free kimchi to your hearts content. Seafood pancake was served piping hot and it was cut right in front of us. It fell apart quickly but had large portions of seafood and was delicious. Fried chicken was really decent as well. Had a good spice to it and the skin remained fairly crispy even while being smothered in sauce. Bibim naenmyeon is spicy cold noodles, sounds weird but is refreshing to stuff in your mouth on a hot day. This dish was decent but could’ve been more flavorful. Add some hot sauce, and it should be good times.Located in a small strip mall of stores on 34th Ave, this place is right in the thick of all the new Korean places of the south. Decent service and fair pricing makes this place worth a shot.Sal says: Just Try It@testikill says: It was good. I felt like the service was a bit slow. The pancake fell apart too easily. The cold soup was different but it was really refreshing on a hot day.#yegeats #yeg #yegdt #yegfood #food #foodie #foodporn #foodgasm #foodpics #foodstagram #instafood #delicious #hungry #yummy #dinner #lunch #korean
My friend and I were having troubles trying to think of Korean places to go to for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. One of his suggestions included Daore, which I remember opened a few years ago but always slipped my mind with the crazy amount of Korean restaurants that opened in Edmonton at that time (actually there are still a ton that are opening around that same area today haha). We stopped by around 2pm and were the only people in the restaurant. We ended up settling for their pork bone stew and bbimbap. I found the food pretty standard. My friend loved the pork bone stew but I found it lacking flavour compared to other places that sell it in Edmonton. Thankfully the meat fell off the bone pretty easily so that was something I enjoyed. Bbimbap was fine. I don’t have much to say about it besides that it’s fine.Service overall was efficient but friendly. The food took a while to come out but they definitely weren’t too intrusive. Thankfully I wasn’t in a rush or else it might have been annoying waiting for the food to come out. Price were fairly affordable (I think ~$13 each without tip/GST). On a random note, I actually enjoyed their washroom. They even had a few books to read while you’re in there ;). All in all, I think there are better choices in Edmonton for Korean food but at the same time this place isn’t bad. Recommended.
As a Korean, I will bring my guests to here if I have to. nice decoration and good quality of foods (nice ox bone soup). service is good but bit pricy.
My second time there. People are definitely more aware of the Korean Grill across the street. So this place is usually quiet. Service was great, server Julie was friendly and attentive. Ordered two soup, a pancake and a stone pot rice. All were very good.
