I was craving Korean BBQ and decided to give Ginseng another try (haven’t been here in over 5 years) and surprisingly I enjoyed it. The buffet selection is pretty much the same (all your salads, meats, fruit, etc.) and is excellent. The service waa great (quick to refill our drinks and change the grill). A cool new feature is that they now have a karaoke room – free 2 hours with meal! I am definitely coming back.

Went here on Thursday night with my friend from Montreal. I was so dissapointed. Overpriced. Meat not fresh. Very few selections. And the drinks tasted like water with sugar. This used to be a nice place few years ago.

Decently sized place that had a good variety of meats in an AYCE style buffet. While this makes it easy for tables to decide on exactly how much of each dish they’d like, the problem is that it would be difficult for people to distinguish what meat they’re getting without any labels. Some of it is easy enough to guess but it can be daunting for beginners who have no idea what they’re picking up. Meat quality itself was okay with some of the spicier meats being too heavily covered in sauce. Major thing that was a bit of a downer was the inaction by the staff to change our grill when it was in need of a fresh replacement. Going as a large group with a major reservation spanning several tables is somewhat understandable if they were slower in replacing them but it seemed poorly staffed considering the number of people.

The service was great and the food was very good. We were part of a large party everyone enjoyed the evening. Nice atmosphere for a dinner party.

I’ve been to this place a few times, so I was glad to see that the quality of the food and service hadn’t changed much over the past few years. The idea is very unique among Korean restaurants and indeed among restaurants in general in Edmonton: a buffet that includes many raw ingredients including a variety of marinated meats (bulgogi [beef], bulgalbi [ribs], pork, chicken, etc.) that the diner brings to his/her own table where a hot plate is set up for the ingredients to be cooked on. The buffet also has some cooked Korean staples such as kim chi and steamed rice to accompany the raw items that are cooked at table. The price for the buffet is higher than you will see from other such restaurants, but the fact that many of the ingredients are not cooked is the main reason for this. The food is very good, as the meats are sliced thinly so as to enable fast cooking on the plate so that diners can gobble them down while eating rice and other dishes. One tip: plan on having to change clothes after you finish eating here, as the smell of cooked meats will be embedded in them before you leave. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a different kind of dining experience and is willing to spend to get it. As it is a buffet, portion size is not a concern- you WILL be stuffed to the gills when you leave.

This place is extremely expensive for the amount of food selections you get. The service was decent. The restaurant was large and clean.I thought the marinated meat was only okay. I would not come back again because of the price. It’s not worth it for $37.

Used to come here a few times a year 5+ years ago. Last time was about 2 years ago. PROs:- Service was friendly although notparticularly attentive CONs:- Poor selection. Lots of meat but little else. Maki gone, no dessert other than cantaloupe and green melon. Cooked food wasn’t particularlygood or fresh although this was a Tuesday evening so not a lot of customers to cook for- Price: At $37/person, I expect more variety. Horrible value- Dcor: This place hasn’t changed in 7+ years? It is relatively clean but is in need of renovations and repairsNot planning to come again. If you like lots of meat, try Pampa, which has an awesome salad bar as well. Maybe grilling meat is just not my thing anymore.
