I didnt like the way they treated the staff. They seemed to treat the workers poorly in public. When I spoke to some other customers and we all agreed that we will not be back based on our experience.
Pretzel Heaven. I tried the soft pretzels and I was in heaven …the best I have ever had. Vienna bakery makes the traditional pretzel style and a pretzel bun. Get to the bakery early because they do sell out they are that good!
Great little spot. Besides the horrible location this place has great heavy rye (komis brot) and landbrot. The medium rye crust is crunchy but inside the loaf is moist. Mmmm poppy seed rolls, and squares to die for. Rum balls are great too.
Pleasantly surprised. After driving by the sign on Gateway and 63rd for a while now, I bit the bullet and checked out the bakery. I was pleasantly surprised when I met Bridget, one of the founders, who walked me through various baked goods and told me about their story. It turns out Vienna Bakery has some deep roots in the city, and they supply lots of bread for several establishments across the city. Now to the goodies, I got a mini pretzel bun, an apple turnover, and the Pigs Ear (puff pastry, chocolate, and butter cream). The pretzel was tasty; the apple turnover was nice, airy, and crispy but I’d prefer it with more filling; and the Pigs Ear was DELICIOUS! The Pigs Ear was the highlight for me.Their specialty breads looked and sounded really good too. I’ll be back to try out more goodies.
