Came here when they had karaoke so was quite loud inside. Wish the place was better lit as it feels quite dark and has a dungeon like feel. Their macaroni and cheese is very good though.
Found Black Swan by accident. For once, an accident turned out to be a wonderfulexperience! I was visiting Calgary for work, and on many occasions working out of town as a female can be very frustrating. Usually a single female is ignored in most restaurantsand pubs.First kick at the can, the staff was very welcoming and treated me no differently than the boys.The service was exceptional. I usually eat light on the road, and ordered the classic Caesar and added theblacken chicken. Oh Oh my! Yummy-me-o!The romaine lettuce was obviously fresh and crisp. They used real parmesan cheese. Homemade croutons which was delish! The dressing, Im not certain if it was madein house but it was very yummy. The chicken was a real breast. Was not dry, it was done extremely well andthe spicing really danced on the good old taste buds for a long time. Portion size, more than enough couldnt eateverything. But I did inhale the blackenchicken. HeHeI went back the next day for super. Different staff was working. The service was very consistent and they wereequally welcoming. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. I usually dont say this very often, but another Oh Oh my! It was loaded with veggies and chicken was not scarce. Again the veggies looked and tasted very fresh. They say you eat with your eyes. The colour of all the veggies was awesome. The spicing was phenomenal. The spicing was warm but very tasteful and did not knock out the taste buds so you couldnt taste anything else. The spicing was layered and each wonderful note of various spices use came out. The side of salsa and sour cream was very generous. And again it danced all over the good old taste buds. Because it was loaded, I couldnt finish itand took it away.Definitely will visit the Black Swan next time Im Calgary.
Dishonest waitresses. We went there about three times for the Wednesday wings night.One drink is mandatory on wings night. I happened to notice (all three times we went for wings night) that waitresses keep getting new order of bear/drink even if you said ‘NO’ once they realize you patron is little buzzed.Wings are nice here however don’t like dishonesty. I have decided not to step into this place again.
Terrible Service. Good atmosphere and nice place. I enjoy the open mic jams on Tuesday’s but I’m afraid the service is the worst I’ve encountered. Waitress refused to serve the west side of the bar because of a distpute with a previous patron Who left long before I arrived. She pointed and spoke loudly in a negative manner about me and other people at my table from the bar while serving men seated at the bar. She spent her time taking selfies and pointing at us while complaining to her bartender coworker. Will not return after that lousy excuse for a server treated us and others terribly.
Poor Service. My wife and I decided we’d try out the swan for a bite to eat, we found a table ,sat down and waited to be served. After about 8 mins our waitress showed up and took our order( two spicy. Caesars with double limes.) she also asked if we would like menus, we said yes and off she went. We were fairly close to the bar so we could see her put in our order and she went away , the bartender made our drinks and they sat there waiting for delivery. The place wasn’t busy at all we thought we might get our menus to look at while we waited for our drinks, nope! After seeing our drinks on the bar and her going up there and walking away with nothing waited about 10 mins. She finally dropped our drinks off and said I’ll be right back with your menus brought them right away, dropped them off and quickly went away…… Well our Caesars had one slice of LEMON which the servers garnish could not see her anywhere, so went up to bar and asked for a glass with 4 limes. Went back to the table. Soon after Chelsea our server showed up at the bar and we saw the bartender tell her I was up there and what for, she came to our table and said oh you don’t like lemon? Want me to bring you some limes I said don’t bother I already went and got my own. She then said oh ok well are you ready to order some food then? By this time I knew how that might go so I said no just the tab we downed our drinks she brought the tab $13.13 we left $13.00 on the table and walked out! My wife and I are usually very generous tippers when deserved, however the service was appalling!
Black swan. First visit today loved it ,excellent service and great food , the place could do with a deep clean but it sort of added to the atmosphere .it was comfortable and cozy
