Chat group recommendations were right!. If you love Chinese food, you need to go to the New Red Pepper Cafe. We phoned in an order tonight for take out and drove from Spruce Grove to go pick it up. There was some issues because they had closed for a few hours to have an appliance repaired, but the woman owner was very apologetic even though our order was only 10 minutes later than the 5:30 p.m. we had requested. She was very friendly and personable, offered me a drink while I waited, and made the experience of waiting a positive one instead of neutral or negative. I had heard nothing but amazing reviews of this restaurant and have been disappointed by one thing or another by the other local places, so we decided to try this restaurant even though they don’t deliver. We drove home (about a 15 minute drive), unloaded the family, and by the time we got to open the food another 15 minutes later, it was still steaming hot, fresh tasting, and delicious. We ordered the meal for 4, with egg rolls, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, ginger beef, beef with mixed vegetables, and sweet and sour boneless pork. Also some chicken fingers and fries for our picky eaters. The tempura batter on the egg rolls, ginger beef and sweet and sour boneless pork is light and delicate. The texture is perfect. I found my egg roll insides to be a bit squishy, but not gross, and the flavor was beautiful. The carrots in the beef with mixed vegetables were a bit weird textured and tasted old, but that might have been a supplier problem being the middle of winter. The rest of the dish was fantastic. The chicken chow mein was some of the best I’ve had, and the sauces were unlike the usual ones you find in Chinese restaurants – in a good way. So fresh, so tasty, we will be back! It’s worth driving to go and get it!
Freshest and best Chinese Food!. We always order the combination plates of Chinese food and we are never dissapointed! I’d pick them over any other place in Stony Plain!
Delicious. Fresh. A hidden gem.. Proud to live in Stony Plain and home to one of the best Chinese food restaurants around. Haven’t had Salt and Pepper Shrimp this good since the ownership of the Southside Beijing Beijing (and hence a new chef) changed hands in Edmonton several years ago. This is fantastic- mad flavours for days, and these owners having originally owned the Red Pepper Cafe in Slave Lake, are very happy to please. After losing everything, they have reopened as the New Red Pepper Cafe, and no one deserves longevity in business more. Friendly service, family friendly…. TIP** also check out the Stony Plain library next door if you have little ones- they would enjoy the new kid’s area after eating dinner 🙂
Great Chinese food in Stony Plain. First time trying the Red Pepper Cafe. Excellent food and value for the money.
I’ve been to japan and china and experienced Asian cuisine from the source but this one restaurant I find tastes better than the food I had at Asia!
Great Chinese. Ordered Chinese from here last night and it was GREAT. Everything was fresh and tasted great, we will definitely be ordering from the New Red Pepper Cafe again!!
We ate here on June 3/2014. …. We ate here on June 3/2014.The first thing we noticed was how immaculately clean it was. The owner/server was very friendly and welcoming. We had the spring rolls, egg roll, mushroom fried rice, beef & veg curry and shanghai noodles. To start with the spring rolls were light and very tasty as were the egg rolls. The entrees were fantastic. I also had a generous side of hot sauce. We have both ate at many different places around the globe, and this is the best Chinese food we have had in decades. This place is a little undiscovered gem hidden in a strip mall beside the Stony Plain Library. The decor is old school canadian but new and spotless. There was a steady flow of eat in and take out customers and this was a Tuesday evening.Excellent dining experience the food was delicious and flavourful.
