I like the idea of a build your own pho but my bowl was fairly bland – and not much chicken. However my biggest concern was that it didnt seem very clean. A couple of the tables had not been wiped down, and as I sat waiting my eyes caught on the open sign chains absolutely caked with dust. Discoloured fan and ceiling and just a general look of not being taken care of. Thats always a bit worrisome because it makes you wonder what is happening in the areas we cant see…
I cannot comment on the Pho as I only had the noodle bowl but, I was not impressed. At almost $14 you get a very small portion, barely half the take out container. The chicken seems like the soft spongy stuff you get at subway and would not tear or string at all like real chicken. Cover it in a sweet syrup like sauce and it’s all good. Hipster place with hipster pricing, stick to the hole in the wall Pho restaurants. Jimmy’s next door though is great if you need some quick filling food. The only thing that was cool about this place was the Pho broth simmering in the open, we always wanna know how that salty nectar is made!
My coworker raved about this place and brought me here for lunch. It’s a build your own pho place $10 for beef pho and add your own toppings-green onions, onions, basil, cilantro, chili, lime. You can also pick the amount of spiciness you want according to the intensity scale. The broth was very flavourful and good but I think the temperature could have been hotter. It gets quite busy so come before noon or after 1pm. You can also order stir-fry noodles on the grill with your choice of toppings and sauce as well. Might try that next time.
Very fresh tasting and I think it’s MSG free! I like the way they allow you to have more or less of any of the garnishes. That way I can choose to have extra cilantro! Good price and insanely friendly service too. I also think the regular size is already more than enough for lunch, and the large size is for very hungry people.
Amazing pho made by Maricar at Pho Daddy! And some of the best customer service in Calgary. And if you’re in the mood for shwarma, you can go to their sister restaurant right next door. Well done !
I haven’t had broth this good since I was a child and my mom was my only chef. My favorite part was being able to control exactly how much of everything I wanted in my soup. I also loved that you can see what cooks in the broth. It was a hit of nostalgia, the prices are good, and the staff are great. Special shout out goes to Mufasa for all the laughs and amazing service. I can definitely see myself coming back in the future.
Had pho daddy today for lunch with a friend. Turns out they use halal meat! Was super happy to hear since it’s hard to find halal options. The place is run by Lebanese owners. the employee confirmed it was halal meat since I asked for vegetarian option and she asked if it was an allergy or just a preference. it’s quick and really yummy! Get to customise your bowl according to your tastes! Would recommend and will definitely be back in the future!
