Expensive, bland and frozen food. Service is great and I don’t usually care about the price but this rating is all about just the food. Lemon, salt and pepper couldn’t save the food.
Very disappointed with their fish and chips portion and quality. Ordered two pieces cod and what we got was basically one piece of cod cut into two. Fries were also poorly prepared with many burnt and they looked like the left over bits from other customers. Stay away!
Probably some of the best fish and chips in Calgary! The fish is always very fresh with nice crispy batter. Everything I’ve tried here has always been very good, from the two piece fish dinners to the chowders. Not the fanciest decor, and it’s not cheap, but the food definitely makes it worth a visit.
So disappointing! For a place literally connected to a fish market, I thought it was reasonable to expect freshness and quality. Ordered the 2 piece Halibut dinner plate (love me some halibut!) and the fish was so dry and overcooked it was unbearable. But the batter was nice and crispy, just that the fish it was coating was terrible. Tartar sauce was so bland, it just tasted like Miracle Whip in a squeeze bottle. Tartar sauce is supposed to add some acid and tartness to the rich fried fish, but this sauce just added more heaviness. The coleslaw wasn’t bad, but who cared about a tiny heap of shredded cabbage when you dropped $25.00+ for a 2 pc plate and a pop? What started out as a seemingly generous portion just became a cause of frustration that so much had to be thrown away. Please improve the quality of your products, this city could use a proper seafood joint and you guys could fill that niche.
Had some of the best fish and chips in Calgary tonight. The restaurant is a 60’s retro style, but clean and tidy. A straightforward menu of seafood with 4 different kinds of fish. The haddock fish and chips is thinly battered with a solid chunk of fish. This restaurant has been here forever and I hope it stays.
I just love this place. Dine in only. I have a thing against soggy fish so a sit down meal is great. Big fan of the cod and clam strips. Great service! 🙂 I will be back.
Extremely dissapointing. I would like to say that I am a big fan of fish and chips, and this was the worst experience of my life. I ordered a Calamari platter and Cod 2 piece fish and chips. My calamari was a handful and since I did a pick up, by the time I brought my food back home, it was soft and soggy like a wet tissue paper, I basically spent 14$(meant for Calamari) for a box full of fries which were burnt. My fish was soggy too, and again the fries were burnt, the coleslaw was terrible. It is as if nothing was done right, as happy as I was that there is this nice fish and chips place at 2 mins distance from my house, I will never go there again and neither will ever recommend this place again.
