Friend had made reservations before a concert. Waiters and rest of staff were very attentive. Ordered the mussels to start and salmon for a main. Friends raved about how the calamari was the best they had. Food was good as was service.
Made reservations on a Friday for 530 assuming the restaurant would be busy. No one was around or in the restaurant and waited for 10 minutes for someone to come out and seat us. Our server was great and brought us water, our drinks and informed us of the special which was a $32 prime rib with seasonal veggies and whipped potatoes. I wanted to opt for a caesar salad to start but the waiter recommended their beet salad which he said was popular. And it was a delicious beet salad! However I was not impressed with my prime rib, it came out medium rare as I requested but I found it to be only lukewarm and the cut was quite fatty. My whipped potatoes looked more like mush and were hidden under my yorkshire pudding. But they did taste good. The seasonal veggies were zucchini and cabbage. I didn’t care for the cabbage which was super unappealing but the zucchini had some nice grill marks on it and tasted great. My friend had the chicken and ribs which came with a poppyseed topping on the chicken which she didn’t like. The ribs were good but dry. The bill was over $100 and for the price I didn’t feel the food was worth it or that amazing. Maybe the menu items we chose weren’t up to my foodie taste buds but I was actually disappointed. I have eaten out at many nice restaurants and there was no wow factor at all.The ambiance was very bright, the restaurant was clean but I didn’t notice it to be very busy which to me is a sign that it’s not that popular of a restaurant. A couple other tables appeared but maybe it was still too early for dinner. Don’t know if I will be back again to try anything
I am writing to express my wonderful experience at Sage on May 30 with our large group of 11. The food and service was superb and kudos to everyone that worked hard to make the night flow as well as it did! Although I did not catch the name of our server, the service he provided made this night even the more enjoyable. When I was ordering, I was leaning towards the surf and turf, but the server really recommended the rib eye, and I am so glad I went with it because it was so delicious and juicy and flavourful, and that peppercorn sauce was also delicious. I loved how he made lots of banter that our table got a kick out of, such as after my dad tried the rib eye he was (jokingly) upset that he didn’t get it as well, but our server wittily replied he was looking out for my dad’s age haha (it was a massive 14 ounce rib eye after all). The bread starter was delicious and crusty, and The Saskatoon berry fry bread that he recommended for dessert was delicious as well: perfectly crispy yet chewy, sweet yet tangy. So cheers to the cooks and cheers to our server, you’ve really made our night enjoyable!
Everything on the menu was 50% off for Mothers Day and for me, this sounds like a deal I do not want to miss out. I ordered the surf and turf and it was decent. I found the meat (both the 7oz steak and lobster tail) was a bit under seasoned. The steak was cooked to perfection but the lobster was a bit overdone. It is also worth mentioning the food came out lukewarm. Dessert itself was delicious and I definitely enjoyed the tartness of the sauce for both the chocolate crunch cake and cheesecake. Service was also great and I dig the fancy/high-end atmosphere of the interior. Overall, I left satisfied knowing it was a good deal but it might have been a different story if the menu was not 50% off. oliveoiloilpaint.com
WE had a reservation at 6:30 and managed to get out of there 4 hours later … very disappointed. Average steaks … lots of mix ups (out of 5 steaks , 3 were cooked wrong) … and some prices for some dishes that don’t make a lot of sense. A $37 main course dish contains just 4 tiny scallops and a bit of lettuce ..?!? Slow service, poor executed dishes …. had to wait 1 hr to get the bill …. This place went downhill . There’s so many other better options . Will not return .
Something has changed. I have been eating with friends and family at Sage for years, not anymore. Menu has changed and my understanding is managements decision. In our party 2 people ordered Arctic Char and also 2 Kobe burgers. Tomatoes were old, burgers over cooked and the fries came from the bottom of a bag. The Char for 40.00$ came with nothing, you cannot even order side dishes anymore. Speaking with other people, it’s sad because this once was a great place. New Chef and also new management, won’t be returning after a 140.00$ bill without drink and poor quality food.
Great Food, Poor Service. My wife and I decided to do a casino night for our anniversary. So Sage was the perfect place for dinner since it was right in the Casino. Everything started out great. Our server was very attentive. The once we finished our appetizers and were waiting for our entree’s, it all went downhill. Our server was tasked with taking a large party that came in after us. Instead of passing us off, he attempted to do it all. I think the result of that is pretty obvious. He didn’t show up to check on our food, which was not cooked to the done-ness we asked. We didn’t get a chance to order more drinks until we finally flagged a different server down to get our bill. We decided to just get out. The food was good, even though the done-ness wasn’t perfect. I just don’t feel that management was aware of what was happening to allow a table to go unattended for so long. It should be a no-brainer to support someone taking a large group while having other tables.
