I was really hoping for a better experience with Fionn’s, but sadly it wasn’t great. Went to the north location on a Monday night. It was pretty empty, and the service was good. We got drinks right away and they were diligent about refilling. Unfortunately, the food was meh. The most disappointing was the beer bread and cheese sauce appetizer. The bread was over toasted and dry, and the cheese sauce tasted like melted cheez whiz (I wouldn’t be surprised if it was cheez whiz with some beer in it). Usually I’m excited about beer cheese, this was not beer cheese. The mains were okay. The stacked Reuben my partner had was very good, the hot peppers amped it up nicely. My club was basic and I shouldn’t have ordered it. The menu was a bit deceptive and I thought it was more of a chicken burger, but it was like a regular club sandwich. Nothing special, kind of bland. I wouldn’t get it again. We tried the brownie for dessert which was the best part of my meal, even though I’ve had better brownies. But I would get it again. Sadly, since this is a chain, I’m sure the food isn’t much different at any other Fionn Maccools. I probably wouldn’t ever go unless it was in a group and we happened to be close. But next time I’m going to stick with a meat pie or fish and chips and hope it’s not terrible.
Went to this location for the first time expecting it to be same as 170 street . The menu is not nearly as good and they appeared to be a server or two short .We did have the Guinness steak and mushroom pie and it was awesome highly recommend . The side potatoes and gravy it was served with was not hot , sort of Luke warm .My wife ordered a Caesar and we had to ask for more Clamato as it seemed very watered down could almost see through it . Our server brought us a side of Clamato , bottle of tobacco and spice which was good of her . We fixed the Caesar right up.I will go back and try again but the 170 street would get my business first .UpdateJust to update , i have been back to this 137th ave location several times since for lunch. It is now one of my faves. It is never super busy and always can be in and out quickly.Never in my life did i think i would go to a restaurant and order shepherds pie , i did and loved it. Although Guinness steak is still the best. The service that Cassandra provides is super.
Went on a Sunday night. Restaurant was moderately busy. Space is nice, able to carry on a conversation. Two of us had the fish and chips, and Reuben. Everyone enjoyed their meal, beer was a little expensive. Looked at the weekly specials and will go back to try.
The food was pretty good for the price at this restaurant. However service was much less then stellar. For a Saturday night at 5pm it was still quite long wait times for food. Did not ask to refill drink once until late the very end of the meal. When requesting some extra chips for the dip I also experienced a very very long wait time.So stay away if you want decent service on the weekends.
