Given the name of the restaurant and the price, I would expect a bowl of ramen in great quality. It was a disappointment that the noodles we ordered were only mediocre in quality and taste. The service was also a bit slow. Their curry rice bowl was among the worst we’ve tried. Definitely too dry and no vegetables at all.
Umami has one of the spiciest ramen bowls in the city – the red devil. If you like spicy then you HAVE to try this one. I got extra lean pork chasu just because I’m a big guy. Also, loved the beef tataki and neo-Japanese interior. Check it out!
Really good!!! Excellent service. Affordable prices. The buns were the best!! First time having and I am coming back on my next days off. My friend had the seafood ramen and I liked his more then my ramen. But Im new to this food and I will try other ramen because I like this little gem
Don’t ever go to #umami ramen on 16 ave. they have nice staff, the only nice thing I can remotely find. First is the wait for food. With a half empty restaurant I waited 35min and food only came after I complained. Portion: smaller than most ramen place I’ve been to. Soup: there is taste, but no flavour, it’s gross because u have no idea what you actually ate. Noodle: their noodle is the thinner instant ish kind where it is hard to over cook or get soggy. This is fine if their price reflects it, but they still charge $13 a bowl. Chashu: too fat and cooked for too long, all the fat dissolved when my noodle got here that I can’t find a whole piece of chashu, all in shreds. Nothing else in the noodle: which is fine if it is reflected in the price! Every where else have bamboo shoots and egg, it’s a side order there!!! I will never ever go back and urge all my friends and family not to!
I had the Tonkotsu original and it was well made. Went really well with the sake. The chashu was tasty and the miso really creamy. Quite a filling dish as well. Just beware that this is a small establishment when it comes to seating.
Had the tonkatsu spicy miso and it was a decent bowl of ramen. Very tasty compared to some other spots I’ve tried in the area which had better reviews. The noodles were firm and the broth had some full flavour with the spice.
A cute little noodle place that is brightly-lit and has a welcoming atmosphere. The menu may be a little limited and the prices are on par with most ramen places, with up to $15 a bowl. The food itself is nothing that special (the noodles aren’t handmade or anything) but the broth is quite salty and flavorful so it’s definitely great if that’s what you’re looking for!
