Despite my repeated communication with Planet Organic (conversation with manager, twice with staff, written feedback form), their locations continue to offer home-made meals that contain peanuts, and DO NOT label items so that the purchaser can SEE it. I bought meatballs, scanned the ingredients (type set is way too small) through the glass case, fed them to my son and he had a major allergy attack in June 2015. Two questions: why would you add peanut butter to meatballs?? and, why would a heath food store put an allergen (and mould infested) ingredient in an otherwise healthy meal? The same holds true for their meat loaf. At the very least, there should be a big red sign warning customers. I find this negligent, and if my son was any worse off I would have sued. I am writing this to warn others since it is obvious that after almost 2 years of talking to staff no one cares enough to prevent another customer from getting sick.
$8.99 soup and sandwich combo, not too bad. Got the goat cheese and roasted vegetable panini; goat cheese is rich enough to replace meat options, filling and hit the spot. Chicken and Gouda soup was very nice, light tasting and not too heavy. I would definitely stop in here again, pastries look very yummy!
Holy expensive Batman!! This place is ridiculous. They have all the organic, GMO free, gluten-free, hippy dippy options for grocery as well as deli take-out. This place does have an excellent selection of gluten free items…but you’ll pay for it. Super clean store that is always empty…hmmm I wonder why?
Everyday Eats – Planet Organic. Being someone who likes spice, I first came to this location after a visit to Peking Garden, and discovered an incredible spice mix that I’ve been using in my cooking ever since that I have yet to find in other places around Calgary. The location is always bright, clean and neat, with friendly staff. The produce is a bit lacking sometimes, but I have been able to obtain rare items like a Meyer lemon once, which is really nice. It is a bit out of way transit-wise, but it’s a great place to visit for many special items that you may not find at your local mega mart.
