Best Indian Food Ever. I have been a loyal customer for years as the food is thee best place to eat indian and ethnic food in Lethbridge…. and perhaps Calgary.. I moved to calgary 8 months ago and have tried more then half the east indian restaurants and this one is still the best. I one time made a day trip to Lethbridge to eat there.
Indian Made For Lethbians. This is Indian food made for a city that might not be ready for a real Indian restaurant. My first impression the decor was that the restaurant was elegant but pushing the edge of tacky. The service lacked enthusiasm or any personal touch, but got the job done. The food followed the same theme: good, but not fantastic. We found the samosas a little tame compared to the great flavours I know they are capable of. B.C.’s Fraser Valley has a rich Indian community and has some amazing samosas. The curry dishes also seemed to be toned down to better suit unimaginative taste buds. Maybe they need to in order to please the average customer. I just wanted a little more from an Indian restaurant.
BIG MISTAKE. Tonight we decided to try a different Indian restaurant instead if Taj. BIG mistake! Our order was messed up and they didn’t want to fix it. No biggie we will just stay with the food at Taj as we eat ther often and love it!
Fantastic!. Such a wonderful place. Amazing food in a wonderfully decorated dining room and an appreciative, polite staff. One of my favorites 🙂
Average Experience. After reading all the reviews, I decided to try the food. The food is average and pretty much tasted all same probablybecause they were prepared in the same sauce (or maybe because I’m brown, my expectations were too high and I know how better East Indian food can taste). Anyways, it didn’t work well for me and certainly was not worth the price or thevisit. The butter chicken on the buffet was okay but had less chicken and more of the sauce, the potato curry orwhatever it was, was completely bland. The gulabjamuns, my favorite Indian dessert, were the only thing which I likedand they were actually excellent! After this trip, I was left with a craving for Butter Chicken as my East Indian taste buds(as I like to call them.. lol… they go to sleep mode when you adapt to NA cuisine.. lol) were activated and demanded something better. To find a solution I called up my mom in India and a couple of friends in Toronto. My mom shared her recipe(which turned out to be amazing as I knew it would – this also involved 2 trips to Real Canadian and Save-on to get the supplies), my friends suggested PC’s Butter chicken which I definitely found to be better than the one I had at Baadshah and also suggested me to follow this page: http://www.vahrevah.com(the chef literally says, he is all about inspiring to cook!!!)Now, the trip to Baadshah was an average experience but what I am cooking at home now is exceeding my expectations and I actually thank these guys for giving me the motivation. LOL!
I love the food here. Always a stop of mine when in Lethbridge
Best Indian Food I Have Ever Had – A MUST TRY!. I have visited this restaurants several times with my husband and in-laws and have left more than satisfied every time! The staff and restaurant owners are kind a humble and the food is delicious. A few of my favorites are the Panang, Korma and Butter chicken curry’s as well as the Vegetable Pokara and the Garlic Naan Bread (the best!!).
