An adorable little cafe with great Korean and Japanese comfort food. The owner is possibly one of the friendliest people I’ve met in a while – you can tell he is genuinely wants you to love the food and he instantly makes you feel at home. The cafe is very cosy – it even has a fireplace in the middle! I got the tempura udon, and my friends got the beef bulgogi and the ton katsu. Our food arrived quickly and portions were generous. The broth for my udon soup was absolutely delicious – rich with umami and subtly sweet. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the soup was filled with a variety of vegetables. The tempura was also nicely cooked, but it was not a typical tempura batter. The ton katsu was incredibly tender and breaded in the same batter as the tempura, and the sauce it came with (your typical ton katsu sauce) was really nice. The corn the ton katsu came with was almost addictive, and the dressing on the cabbage salad was deliciously creamy. The beef bulgogi arrived sizzling on a cast iron pan, and came with kimchi, salad, ssamjang miso sauce, and lettuce. The meat was beautifully cooked: sweet, tender meat that was perfectly carmelized. There is not a doubt in my mind that I will be back at Cafe Momoko very soon!
Cafe Momoko is one of my favourite places to eat! Moon is so friendly and always makes an attempt to get to know his customers. The food here is absolutely delicious and the portions are reasonable for the price. Be sure to make a reservation as the place is a little small and can get pretty busy on the weekends.
Momoko is one of our favourite places to eat. We are just very lucky it is close to us! Moon is an amazing host and we have become a regular over the years. He is also very thoughtful about your food to go or take-out. Everyone we take there ends up becoming a regular and loves it!
Great service, cute place, good food for the price. Definitely worth it if you’re in the area. Our waiter was cheerful and helpful. I will go back!
This will be the first review I have written about any restraunt in Calgary. I have been coming to Cafe Momoko Since it first opened, the best Korean BBQ I have ever eaten. Honestly though it’s the owner that keeps me coming back, he’s super genuine and takes the time to remember his regulars. I’ve never had a bad meal, takeout is always fresh and hot. And the inhouse dining experience is second to none.
The best customer service ive ever had in canada. Moon and his moon sauce is better than your typical wasabi+ soy sauce. Their sashimi is cut so well and portions are big. Its affordable and have never had a bad experience.
Moon’s Cafe Momoko is one of Calgary’s best. We’ve enjoyed this restaurant for several years now and always bring visiting friends and family for the Momoko experience. Consistently great food and Moon’s exceptional service are the hallmarks of this place. I’ve tried lots of the menu but am stuck on the spicy pork bulgogi; a perfect blend of flavours that doesn’t scorch your mouth. It comes with lettuce and a sublime sauce for making wraps. Drool. My wife is currently hooked on sashimi salad and agedashi tofu. Wonderful fresh flavours. Awesome. Many thanks to Moon and his team for many great meals. We’re looking forward to many more.
