We dropped by for lunch. Its a lovely modern room. We enjoyed a sushi/sashimi bento and a tonkatsu ramen with pork belly. Both were well prepared and served in a timely manner. Service was friendly and helpful. This izakaya would be a perfect place to hit after work for drinks and snacks. Domo team Towa!
It’s a pretty nice place. The restaurant has a lot of space and a bar area. It’s nicely decorated and the portions are decent. It’s not the best sushi I’ve had (it’s decent though) but if you are out on the west end you’re not going to find another sushi place. I’d go there again.
I have loved the 4th Street towa for years and years. I just found out there was one up in the burbs…. So we went to try it out expecting the same awesomeness. It was terrible. The empty restaurant should have spooked me, but we stayed. The sashimi salmon and tuna platter was the thinnest, lamest showing for sashimi I’ve ever seen. It was paper thin, grocery store sushi is more satisfying. The chicken yakitori was slimy and not good, but the rolls were ok. Acceptable, the spicy salmon/towa special roll/cali roll had decent amount of filling to rice ratio. But not rolled tightly. The spider roll had undectable amounts of soft shell crab. The only redeeming thing was the tempura. It’s was done really well. You let me down towa.
New restaurant just opened in the community of west springs. The interior was spacious and clean. The service was friendly and food came out quickly. The rolls are huge! Same as the 4th Street location of you have ever been there. I really liked the unagi roll and the duck udon soup was hot and delicious. Totally recommend it.
