I was in luck as my first visit to The Clever Rabbit coincided with their annual Donut Fest! Lucky me!!Atmosphere: At first glance, the restaurant is quaint with a homey atmosphere. DIY touches (ex. painted bunny chairs) are everywhere and the rabbit theme is quite apparent and well done.Food:The menu choices are quite varied and well priced. I tried the fresh salsa and chips, and the battered tofu bowl with Thai peanut sauce. The salsa was good but the star of my meal was the tofu bowl. The portions were rather generous (especially the tofu) and left me more than filled. The steamed veggies were cooked well and the sauce was delicious with a bit of heat to it. As it was Donut Fest, I had to try at least one but ended up getting mine to go as I was too full. Try the blueberry fritters if you can–they are excellent!Service:The servers are really nice and personable but a little unorganized. One gets the impression that management has never implemented any front-of-house systems and that the staff just wings it during their shift. The bottom line is that I was very happy with my meal at The Clever Rabbit and will be returning once again.
Absolutely the worst service, every time I go there no one ever smiles, makes us feel welcome, says thank you. I will never ever go back there. It is sad because I love the concept. They need to learn about customer service and straight up etiquette
Great place for vegan and vegetarian food in the Westmount/124 Ave area. The interior and ambiance is warm, down-to-earth, and inviting. Service is super friendly and warm which really added to the character of the place. Food selection is good and primarily consists of breakfast & lunch dishes. Their Vegan Caesar Salad was simple, tasty, and pleasantly different. The combination of ingredients really complimented each other. It was a large salad and came with lovely poppy seed garlic bread. This place also serves vegan desserts if you’re looking for something sweet. My only concern was that the service was fairly slow at times. Other than that, this is a nice place for vegan and vegetarian food. It has potential to grow into something bigger & better and I’m hoping to see this happen
The service is pretty slow, and the server didn’t prioritize the customers as they were in the back loudly talking. Watched as another customer came in and wasn’t noticed for a good 15 minutes. My meal was good, tofu on rice with veggies, but my partner’s pulled pork was pretty salty and the slaw had too much vinegar. The soup I had for a side was pretty tasty, but only served warm – not hot. The chilli was pretty delicious.Probably not going to go back.
Their food is really hit and miss, but their desserts are excellent. Though I always make an effort to be warm and friendly, I’ve had some pretty rude customer service experiences here.Their prices have also gone up, while the portion sizes haven’t.A couple weeks ago, I walked past while they had a loud music show going on in the cafe, there being a cat shelter next door. The animals looked terrified. It was really off-putting and so for that reason (and the other reasons above) I don’t support Clever Rabbit anymore.
Amazing vegan restaurant!! The lentil loaf with cashew gravy is dynamite. Friendly service and generous portions will bring me back to try more. I’m not a vegetarian and this restaurant is at the top of my list.
I’ve had their food several times since Edmonton isn’t exactly brimming with Vegetarian/Vegan only restaurants. I’ve just never had a good meal at Clever Rabbit. They know how to make a good soup, but it doesnt make up for the horrendous quality of the rest of what I’ve received from Clever Rabbit. I’ve never had soy protein quite like CR presents it, and that’s not a good thing. The food is just strange. The spice of the unpleasantly soft fried chicken isn’t complementary to their waffles. I don’t know how they managed to screw up something as simple as a taco, but you gotta give Clever Rabbit credit for reaching that feat.I haven’t tried their desserts so I can’t comment on their quality. I have had their granola and yogurt and it just feels overpriced for what you receive. The staff are dismissive of their customers and are quick to fault the customers for their bad dining experiences. While my review may seem overly harsh stop and consider the level of service I must have received to drive me to write this.If you’re on 124st and looking for good vegetarian friendly food walk a few blocks North to Arcadia Bar. While they have a smaller menu their food is beyond exquisite and the friendly staff are actually happy for your patronage.
