Came here based on a recommendation from a client of my bf. I’ve been eating a TON of sushi lately and trying a bunch of different sushi restaurants around Edmonton. I’m obsessed with Izakaya Tomo and I have yet to find somewhere else that can top it. I wanted to go to Japonais Bistro, but my bf insisted we come here cause he trusts his client….First of all, this place is all you can eat. I can’t remember the exact price but it was close to $40.00 and totally not worth it. I hate going to all you can eat/buffets because I feel like the food is just being rushed out as they are probably super busy and don’t really care about the quality of the food. I rather wait 20 minutes for a meal that wasn’t just slapped together. I actually didn’t think the food tasted horrible. I’m vegetarian so it’s not exactly hard to mess it up. However, my bf said the fish tasted like it had been sitting out and just not very fresh. He couldn’t exactly explain it but he said it pretty much just tasted weird. Service wasn’t very friendly. I don’t remember anytime they checked on us, and I had to call over a server if I wanted anything else. When we first arrived they only gave us one menu between the two of us which was super annoying….Anyways, most likely not returning. Way to expensive for the quality of the food.

I am severely disappointed in Watari. This is usually my go to AYCE sushi place, but after tonight I will not be coming back. The sashmi felt like it was frozen and thawed (it was kinda watery and was also tasteless). The sushi tasted store bought, extremely heavy on rice, and some were even dry. My favourite at any AYCE Japanese restaurant is always the Squid Tentacles but tonight it was so salty. Overall, I found myself drinking more water than eating, the food is poor and service was slow. They lost our order and we also had to ask for water. The floor was dirty, napkins, paper and food particles all over. Last call was also one hour before they close so beware when going late. My girlfriend and I jokingly argued who finishes the sushi (since it was so bad), so we don’t get charged the leftover fee. $36.00 / person, go else where.

Although small inside, its well worth the visit. The food is outstanding and very well prepared. If youre a vegetarian this is one place you dont need to be afraid to speak up, as they have a whole menu devoted strictly to vegetarians. Staff are well mannered and extremely polite and put customer satisfaction first. I would recommend this to friends and family without hesitation.
