4:00 on a weekday. I was offered a taster of the mango chicken which was fresh and tasty enough for mall food. Unfortunately that’s where the positives ended. The selections at the counter were empty or last dregs of the pan. The noodles were heat lamped dry and crunchy hard. Trying to add something healthy I chose some sort of veggie dish. The broccoli was so overcooked it was black mush. Other than the chicken, inedible. $8 or $9 wasted. Not Thai food. Not food period.
Terrible. Tasteless chicken curry. Worst Thai food I’ve ever had.
Greasy tasteless food. Not very good.
Meat/side items are excellent. These could competefor a spot in a restaurant menu rather than the food court.Rice and soup are RANCID. veggies in both tasted like they recently were pulled out of a deep freeze bag. Both were bland and unsatisfying.Tentative like for the fact that the curries and meats are wonderful
Inexpensive and decent for mall food. We headed down to Southcentre on Good Friday, around 10:30 am, not knowing that the stores open at 11 am. However, some of the eateries in the food courts were already open, and having skipped breakfast, we thought it was a good time for lunch. Ruby Thai caught my eye, as they had 2 combo platter specials, I can’t remember what special A consisted of, but I ordered the Special B – choice of fried rice or noodles, bang bang chicken, and veggies. Since it was still early and Ruby was in the process of getting things together, the stir fried veggies were unavailable, so I was given the fried noodles in its place. As for fried rice, there were 2 choices, one was white looking and looked like there were dates in it ? It didn’t look appetizing at all, on the other hand, the other one was yellow in colour and looked good – it was a curry fried rice. The curry fried rice was good, curry did not overpower the rice, it was very subtle in taste. The fried noodles consisted of broad rice noodles with bean sprouts and julienned carrots, very similiar to the chinese beef fried noodles. It was a tad greasy but I enjoyed the hint of smoky wok flavour. The final component was bang bang chicken. It turns out the chicken was their version of sweet and sour chicken – it tasted like it had a hint of coconut flavouring (?) in it, I couldn’t tell if the coconut taste was in the sauce or the batter.I don’t expect much from mall food, especially since the food has the potential of sitting in the steam trays for a length of time, but overall I was happy with the meal at Ruby Thai.
One of the better noodle soups at food fairs. Soup base ok but very good beef.
Really liked the BBQ Thai Chicken and the Mango Chicken. Wasn’t crazy about the Curry Noodles or the Pepper Beef. The food is kept in heated warming trays, so not necessarily the freshest. But it’s fast food, always a 50/50 shot that you’ll like everything.
