Good food, good price!. I stopped here after running the Calgary Marathon on Sunday. I ordered the rice, mixed vegetables, and chicken mushrooms. It is foodcourt food but I was impressed with it. They only charged me for 2 items, I guess because I didn’t order a main dish. Overall the service was fast and the food was great.
Great choice given that it’s from a food court in a mall. I don’t understand why this place has such low rating. Perhaps people are expecting restaurant food…if so, wrong expectation and unfair. Treat it as food from a food court and you will see the value. Don’t get the combos and choose your own. The Shanghai noodle is always good and tasty. Sesame chicken is delicious and crisp when it’s fresh. The potstickers are good (ask for red vinegar to go with them, it’s great!). $8.20 for 2 items + noodle and generous portion = good value and not bad at all. PS Don’t go for the ginger beef as it is much less tasty than the sesame chicken.
OK for mall chinese food. Went here early Sat morning, to avoid the crowds typical for Chinook. Around 11 am it still wasn’t too bad so we stopped for lunch at the food court.I decided on Petite Cuisine, as it was offering a slightly better value than the other vendors.I picked the Special Combo A, fried rice, mixed veggies, and ginger beef. The whole meal itself was rather bland, but considering the salt contents nowadays, bland may not be a bad thing. The fried rice was not that spectacular, it was rather ho hum. I like the stir fried mixed veggies, despite sitting in the steam table for god knows how long, it was still crisp, and colour wise vibrant. It contained broccoli, bean sprouts, and carrots, all coated in a light sauce. Ginger beef wasn’t bad either, however, texture wise it was kind of soggy as it was sitting in the sauce too long. I also felt the sauce was more sweet than it should be.Overall, at $6.49, it is a good value and the meal itself wasn’t that bad either.
