Seems like the owner has changed. All the signature desserts are gone. Drinks are different. Overpriced for the quality of their food and service comparing to the last owner’s. It’s sad that the original owner sold the patisserie.
Should try making the food more than once a week, sandwich dry enough that it crunched and hurt the top of my mouth! This place won’t last.
Great little pastry shop. I have been here a few times and absolutely love this place. Coffee is consistently good as are all the cakes that i have tried. My favorite is the Sophia, light chocolate mousse with a passion fruit centre, and a beautiful golden topping. I recently bought some of their truffles for a friend which I was lucky enough to be able to try. They ranked up there as good as those I have bought from Thomas Haas. Thanks for giving us this great spot in my neighbourhood.
Terrible truffles and macarons. The macarons were chewy and tasteless and the cream-based filling was so thin it could have been left out and you wouldn’t have tasted the difference. Truffles tasted homemade… And that’s not a good thing. The fillings were way too sweet and desperately lacked the infusion of their own flavors… Salted caramel, mint, London fog, etc. and the chocolate coating the filling was so thick it made it taste like it was just dunked in store bought chocolate over a double-broiler. Spend the extra few bucks and go to Thomas Haas.
Fantastic. I am now a regular at CC Violin. It has some of the best deserts and bake goods Ever!!!! The sandwiches are made with there homemade bread and are absolutely delicious .Everthing is made or baked on site. I would highly recommend it.
I stopped here with my friend when coming back from skiing. We ordered a latte, Americano and a croissant to share. Croissant was served with butter and homemade jam (so delish!). Croissant was good but it tasted similar to places in dwnt which makes me think they pre order them rather than make them in house. Now on to coffee!! My Americano (16oz) was a very weak. I was told it has 2 shots… A mug that size would need 4 I would think. My friends latte was interesting. Double shot with poor attempt at latte art. It was passable but you can get better ones at Crema or the Coffeebar. So, this place is ok but I will not be back here willingly.
Good Pastries. Situated right next to one of our most favourite restaurants, Chef Hung, in West Van, I’ve always wanted to try CC Violin. Saw a Groupon promotion & decided to give it a try right away! The restaurant was absolutely packed the morning I went in to buy pastries. So glad they had a very positive attitude towards Groupon users ~ something was wrong & I could not retrieve my coupon from my iphone, the gentleman suggested that I restarted my phone & it worked. He was very patient & was extremely helpful in recommending good pastries for me. Will definitely visit again!
