I came upon this place at The Eco Market last night at Sardis Park. My husband and I tried the curry beef bread and the beef bread as well as the spicy chicken chowmein. It was absolutely delicious, well worth the wait (she had quite a lineup). The noodles were perfectly done and vegetables were nice an crispy, not soggy like most other places. Tasted fresh, and I loved how she makes all the food fresh on the spot. It was also CHEAP, as in, $8.50 for my whole meal and filled two full grown adults. I will definitely be back!
Deliscious. Michelle makes all her own dim sum and serves it fresh. She or her staff deliver each dish to your table as soon as it is ready. It arrives steaming hot. He food is not the usual high sodium and MSG,. There are non-Chinese dishes as well including borsch. She also has an extensive menu of her own baking to choose from so is a great place for a coffee break meeting with friends. Her prices are also very reasonable. She is a friendly lady who obviously loves people.
Awesome Dim Sum!. I was pleasantly surprised when this cafe (previously Touch of Europe Cafe) opened up near my place. I’ve found it difficult to find things like Dim Sum in Chilliwack, so my partner and I had to try it immediately. We showed up late in the afternoon on opening day.The Service:Michelle was there in person to serve us. Since it was opening day, I expected things to be a bit disorganized, but our tea and food arrived quickly, and Michelle was friendly and prepared our food as we ordered it. Each item was served as it finished cooking, so that everything was hot and fresh and there was always something new to try. Granted, we were the only actual customers while we were eating (other customers were leaving as we arrived), and so the attention was entirely on us.The Food:My partner and I both had green tea (I think it was Tetley, not the Chinese tea one usually gets in places like Chinese restaurants) and a variety of small plates from the Dim Sum menu. The menu items were in Romanized Chinese, so unfortunately I can’t remember the names, but the menu itself was very informative and described each item very well. Each item was in small portions of two to four. I would recommend choosing only three to four different items, as they do fill you up!My partner had some sort of bun with red bean, the plain buns (which came with a dipping sauce), and some flaky rolls with a sweet meat filling and sesame seeds on top. I tried a few – the bean buns would appeal to those who enjoy Japanese mochi, while the plain buns were simple and slightly sweet.I had the little translucent shrimp dumplings, the rice steamed in leaves with a meat filling, shrimp and chive spring rolls, and the pineapple buns. Everything was delicious! The flavours were not overpowering or off-putting. If you’re afraid of spiciness, don’t be afraid – these items were not at all ‘hot’, but savoury. I was full after eating the majority of my meal, but reserved a pineapple bun and one of the leaf-wrapped rice balls for my lunch the next day. To my surprise, they both microwaved very well and were nearly as delicious as the first time I tried them. The menu offers a good selection for those who don’t want dim sum, as well, featuring traditional cafe fare (sandwiches, various drinks, soup, fries) from when the place was A Touch Of Europe. I had the hot brie and apple chicken sandwich a while ago, which was very nice and is still on the menu.Atmosphere:The cafe is well decorated, airy and casual. The decor had not really changed since it was A Touch Of Europe, so it does have a bit of an Italian cafe feel. The location is frequented by families, couples and seniors; the patrons are generally pleasant, quiet, and keep to themselves. If one wants to have a large group come in, I would recommend calling ahead and giving a bit of warning as a courtesy.Note on the hours: The cafe is actually closed on SUNDAY and MONDAY, and every other day closes at 4.
