Omg the worst dinner I’ve had lately. This was a go to place for my parents whenever they wanted Korean hotpot. Restaurant was over packed. Good for them but the food was so bad that can’t believe they didn’t feel bad about charging full price for serving crap food. We ordered the pork bone soup. It was half filled with three small pieces of pork bone minimal green onions and no potato? How can Gamjatang come without potatoes? Their excuse was that they don’t want the broth to be thick/murky by adding them in the soup. That’s ridiculous. Also ordered soon dae soup to go which took so long to takeout. Came home and saw that the soup was watered down! Had to recook them but still had n@o depth of flavour. If you are short on supply then tell the customers that you’ve sold out. Instead of trying to separate little by little for each order. So disappointing, on a hot long day we just wanted to have good eats.
Visited here for lunch on CHRISTMAS! Yea.. I didn’t expect myself eating Soondae gookbab () on Christmas, but it happened… due to excessive alcohol consumption a day before LOL.N and I ordered SoonDaeGookBab and Gamjatang . It’s rare to see any restaurants selling soondaegookbab in Vancouver although it’s a pretty common dish in Korea. So I was glad that South Castle specializes in this type of hang-over food.Compared to the ones I had in Korea, the taste was just average. Soondaegookbab broth was a bit bland, but gamjatang was pretty rich in flavours.I might come back to try their soondae later!Food 3.0/5.0Ambience 2.0/5.0Service 3.5/5.0Price $ sophiaeats.com
