We ordered a take out selection of real crab rolls and sashimi. Upon opening the bag at home discovered the sashimi was missing. Called them and though they didn’t offer delivery they said we could pick up the sashimi next day with a bit extra for the mistake. Ate the rolls and were disappointed at how dry they were and how very little real crab there was. Went back the next morning and mentioned the poor roll quality and no thanks we’ll take a refund on the sashimi. Perhaps a restaurant interested in goodwill would have credited the entire meal but these folk gave back the sashimi cash without really giving a toss! We rate them a 1 because there isn’t a zero. Not the first time there but definitely the last.

This place is closed now, which makes sense given how bad the food was, plus their frequent hygiene issues (ex. hair in food, etc). It’s now replaced by a fancier Vietnamese pho place called MVP kitchen and bar, since March 2019.

So disappointed with this restaurant. Basically it’s a Korean sushi joint and not authentic at allKitsune udon is supposed to come with the Aburagge (Tofu) topping. Their version doesn’t come with it and when I pointed it out they said no we don’t have itNigiri sushi here is tasteless and dryDon’t need to come back here again

June 4th, 2016 I went to Genji Sushi at Market Crossing. I had been there about 4 times before and received slow service and people who could use training in friendly customer service. They had missed a yam roll order on one of my take out orders. This time they were really slow and royally screwed up my order. A combination of incompetence and language barrier. I had two different people, a female and a male, who couldn’t seem to understand my order correctly. In the end they still hadn’t given me my entire order ( 45 minutes later and they weren’t busy ). I only had 1 miso soup, alaska roll, and 4 pieces of salmon sashimi and the girl tried to charge me $56.00! I had to argue with her to get it right. Then it was $46.00! The cook had to correct her as I pointed out the menu items to her at the cash register. Finally I paid the correct amount of around $15.00 but I did not tip after this bad experience. I wanted to blow up from the frustration but controlled my temper. I will never go there again despite the food tasting alright.

I went there today with my boyfriend and baby son, as soon as we walked in we asked for a high chair and had to get this ourselves, then found our own table (waitress suggested sharing one with another family despite the restaurant being empty). We waited for 10 minutes before even getting water or tea. When we were ready the order the waitress came over, asked if we were ready then walked away. 5 minutes later she returned and took our simple order. 45 minutes passed by, lots of customers entered and orders were taken. We didn’t have our food by this point, neither did the other customers that came in after us. After just under 1 hour the table behind us (who came in after us) got their food then ours came out, but not the full order. The BC favourites came first, followed by the terriakki 5 minutes later, then the tempura after another few minutes. No apology for having to wait over 1 hour, nothing. By the end we had made a good dent on the food we had received we still saw that a few tables were being served but not many. No servers on the floor and people did begin to walk out. We were still waiting on our spring rolls. In the end, after a total time of 1 hour 15 minutes my other half went and paid for what we had eaten, minus the spring rolls with no apology nor gave a tip. As for the sushi, meh, I’ve had better at Safeway. It tasted bland and stale. Tempura was cold as was the terriakki chicken. So why the wait? I guess we will never know!

As people have stated, the service is a little lacking sometimes but it’s not terrible. The food is pretty decent, it’s convenient and close to work. They don’t know how to inform customers of delays. We went from a table of 3 to 5 so 2 people were without tea or water. We asked for 1 tea and 1 hot water. One person got the tea but the hot water took some asking before it arrived. We asked the male server who went to the back but then came back out, walked past us and served other tables, so we simply thought he forgot. We then asked another server for hot water and they did the same, they went to the back and came back out and walked right past us again. So by the 4th time asking they finally told us the water needed to be boiled. I don’t understand why they couldn’t have informed us the first time, it’s not like we mind waiting, but people don’t like feeling like their request was ignored.

Extremely dissatisfied with the south Burnaby location on South Marine. My daughter and I have sushi lunch every Sunday at different places around the Lower Mainland. We returned here because we loved their veggie sunomono the first time. It was excellent again, but the tuna – asparagus roll was terrible. The tuna was inedible. Slimy, grayish , stringy, as if it had been scraped off of the cutting board. I asked the waitress to take it off the bill. She had to go ask someone in charge if she could do so, and was refused. I left a two cent tip ( because I had no choice) and left, after telling her that they had lost a return customer forever. This probably explains why the place appears to be almost empty most of the time.
