Fast friendly service! Delicious sushi and nice atmosphere. They also have Japanese beer on tap! I don’t see that often at sushi restaurants. We will be back!
The most dedicate Japanese restaurant in tri-cities. The seafoods are all so fresh. Although the price is high but the quality is no doubt. If you are not sure how good food they can offer, try their lunch special, Sakula lunch set plus extra ordered miso soup (only 75 cents). The whole set with soup is less than $11 and very worth.
Excellent Authentic Sushi!. Awesome food! We’ve known the owners for 10 years when Katsu was a sushi chef at another local sushi restaurant. The food has always been tasty and of excellent quality! We highly recommend Katsu’s to anyone in the Tri-Cities area looking for good sushi. The prices are reasonable and they offer happy hour specials. They created the Tsunami Roll just after the tragedy in Japan and donate the proceeds to Relief efforts there. It’s not on the menu so you have to ask for it. There is a tree near the cash register with origami cranes on it. Each one represents one Tsunami Roll sold. Make sure you book a reservation for Friday or Saturday evening as it’s usually busy. The only disappointing thing about SBS is that they are not open on Saturdays for lunch. We often wish we could pop in for a roll or 2 when we’re out Saturday running errands. PS Katsu makes the best Negitoro Roll in town, hands down!!
Service was slow when we visited – and we were scolded for asking for hot sauce – this restaurant does not have, only wasabi. First time I’ve ever run into this!
This place is awesome, some of the best sushi I’ve had in the lower mainland. Service can be slow sometimes because there’s normally only the owners working, but it’s worth the occasional wait. Gotta try the spicy tuna sashimi and the fresh oysters!!
Outstanding. Takes me back to the early days (mid 80s) when sushi was just starting to gain popularity in Vancouver. …those days were on the way out as the sushi trend began gaining traction (90s), and were effectively destroyed with the advent of all you can eat sushi IMO. That’s not to say that there weren’t survivors. No doubt their market share took a really big hit as those that were new to the scene had no idea what to look for. I have never been disappointed with any dish from Shyun – standard fare, exotic fair, custom creations… never been disappointed, always fresh and seasonal in my experience. If you’ve never had it, try Uni sushi with a quail’s egg. Tai-paccio ??? Google it with the quotes
Spat out the Tai-paccio.. Tai-paccio. Eww. The fish was submerged in a plate of uncooked oil. YUCK! Enough said.I’m not a picky sushi eater, but I know what to expect for the price I pay at different sushi joints. Shyun serves mediocre sushi at above-average prices. The rolls are nothing to be thrilled about. The uni sashimi and uni maki looked like slime.Above all that. the service was slow as snails…which reminds me again of the slime-like uni they served us.From,A member of the public that wants to give an honest opinion.
